Role Description This part-time, on-site Pharmacy Assistant role is based at our Edmonton, AB location. The Pharmacy Assistant supports pharmacists by preparing and processing prescriptions, organizing medication, and ensuring accuracy in dispensing activities under appropriate supervision. Daily tasks include assisting customers at the counter, answering phone inquiries using professional phone etiquette, and coordinating prescription pickups and refills. The role also involves managing inventory, stocking shelves, checking expiry dates, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. The Pharmacy Assistant collaborates with the pharmacy team to provide efficient, friendly service and support a safe and compliant environment.
Qualifications
- Strong pharmacy-related skills, including understanding of basic prescription workflows and familiarity with pharmacy operations.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, respond to questions, and support patients in a respectful, empathetic manner.
- Professional phone etiquette, including handling inquiries, taking messages accurately, and communicating information securely and clearly.
- Inventory management skills, such as tracking stock levels, organizing products, and assisting with ordering and restocking.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks, especially when dealing with prescriptions and patient information.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and collaborate effectively with pharmacists and other team members.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems; experience with pharmacy software is an asset.
- Previous experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting is an advantage; relevant training or certification as a Pharmacy Assistant or Technician is preferred.
