Hill's Pet Nutrition

Work that matters, fueled by passion for pets!

At Hill’s we have a purpose. Every day around the world, we transform the lives of millions of pet families through pioneering innovation, science-led nutrition and the best and brightest people.

Did you know that the work we do today was originally inspired by Buddy, a guide dog who was suffering from kidney failure in the late 1930s? Dr. Mark Morris Sr. believed the illness was a result of poor nutrition, so he developed a new pet food to help Buddy live a longer, healthier life. That pet food was the forerunner of Hill’s Prescription Diet® k/d® Canine.

Dr. Morris was a caring veterinarian, a visionary for clinical nutrition and the founder of Hill’s Pet Nutrition. We are proud to carry on his tradition of caring and his commitment to transforming lives through the highest-quality pet nutrition available. In fact, our mission is “to help enrich and lengthen the special relationships between people and their pets.”

Hill's® Science Diet®, Prescription Diet® and Ideal Balance® brand pet foods are sold in more than 86 countries, with total annual sales of more than $2 billion.

We share our core values of Caring, Global Teamwork and Continuous Improvement with our parent company, Colgate-Palmolive. Our support to homeless pets and shelters is a living, breathing example of our values, and we are an industry leader in providing pet food to shelter animals around the world. Our Hill’s Food, Shelter & Love program has donated more than $300 million worth of food to shelters and has helped more than 12 million pets find their forever home!
