Original job description

BRICON CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT INC.

Site Supervisor

Retail & Commercial Construction | Grimsby, ON (Head Office)

ABOUT BRICON

BRICON Construction Management Inc. has over 30 years of experience in retail and commercial construction, providing professional services to clients across the retail, office, pharmaceutical, food, and hospitality industries.

Every element of each project is carefully assembled based on cost-effectiveness, proven track record, and, most importantly, the highest quality of workmanship possible. The result is highly functional, effective, and efficient delivery, fostered by decades of hands-on experience, and contributing to on-time results every time.

We are a family-owned business that works closely in collaboration. Our culture is laid-back, our team likes to have fun, and we work hard.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Project Manager(s), the Site Supervisor oversees the construction activities taking place on a worksite and is responsible for all aspects of project management on the jobsite, including planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating the project from start to finish.

The Site Supervisor is a detail-oriented problem solver and a capable leader, able to work effectively with diverse project teams to achieve successful outcomes. This individual manages construction crews, inspects ongoing work, and ensures compliance with applicable legislation, building permits, and codes. They communicate with inspectors on building code compliance and assist with on-site inspections.

The Site Supervisor ensures that equipment is available on the worksite as needed and is in good working order, and is tasked with keeping project costs at or under budget. This role requires a strong dedication to health and safety in the workplace, ensuring that all workers and subcontractors perform their duties in accordance with Company and Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.

SHIFT STRUCTURE

IMPORTANT: This is primarily a night-shift role.

Night work (typically 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM) is a definite part of working at Bricon. It may not happen immediately, but all candidates must understand and accept that night shifts will be a regular part of this role, it is a matter of when, not if.

Day-shift projects occur occasionally but should not be expected as the norm.

Drive times to and from job sites can add 1 to 1.5 hours each way.

PROJECT PROFILE

Our typical projects are smaller retail and commercial builds lasting 6 to 12 weeks. Our larger projects range from $3 to $5 million in size and span 6 to 8 months. We are not a mega-project firm, candidates coming from $50M+ hospital, arena, or oil-and-gas backgrounds are typically not a fit for the scale and pace of our work.

Job Site Territory

Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga, and Niagara

Toronto and GTA

Oshawa

Kitchener / Waterloo

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct work on all commercial and retail construction sites, ensuring compliance with design, project specifications, regulations, and safety codes.

Coordinate, direct, and monitor all construction workers on the worksite; allocate appropriate daily staffing levels to ensure schedule objectives are met.

Ensure that required equipment and materials are available on-site each day; understand how construction equipment works for inspection, operation, and maintenance.

Ensure that every worker has and properly utilizes the required PPE; replace worn or damaged PPE in a timely manner.

Develop and implement quality control programs.

Complete on-site administrative duties including timesheets, take-offs, purchases, change requests, daily logs, and any other documentation required.

Perform regular safety inspections to ensure compliance by all workers with Occupational Health and Safety practices.

Ensure compliance with Company, client, and project policies, procedures, and standards; address safety and other worksite concerns with sub-contractors and workers.

Plan, execute, and monitor the construction plan, including all scheduling and logistics.

Ensure accurate and timely project close-out, including scheduling and coordinating final site inspections and final sign-off letters.

KEY DELIVERABLES

Monitor and direct construction activities to ensure schedules, milestones, budgets, and reporting timelines are met, and that construction activities conform accurately to plans and specifications.

Effectively manage Quality Assurance initiatives and measurements, ensuring that all activities on construction sites are undertaken in full compliance with specifications, timelines, budgets, and health and safety policies and procedures.

Accurately and in a timely manner, detail all required project-related documentation from start-up through close-out, including daily records and progress reports.

MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS

Experience in the retail and/or commercial construction industry (non-negotiable).

• Project-scope familiarity in the $3 to $5 million range; candidates from multi-million-dollar, multi-year mega-project backgrounds are not a fit.
