Find Furniture Bank (Find) is part of Homeward Trust Holding Company (HTHC) a not-for-profit organization that operates companies in support of the mission of ending homelessness.
Find is a social enterprise, operating in partnership with Homeward Trust Foundation (HTF) and housing-focused community agencies. Find’s goals are to provide essential furnishings free of charge to individuals and families who are moving out of homelessness and to supply low-cost, quality furniture and housewares for sale to the public.
Find’s creation has its roots in the realization that access to affordable furniture was a key component in allowing the homeless to be housed, and housing sustainability.

Position Summary
The Processing Lead is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of all aspects of processing, including donation collections, material processing, personnel management, health and safety initiatives, and loss control oversight.
The Processing Lead oversees the efficient and effective flow of processing and/or distribution of goods and donations while promoting Find in a professional manner.
Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor/Assistant General Manager, the Processing Lead works closely with the processing team and supporting departments to ensure efficient operations, effective staff deployment, quality processing, workplace safety, and a positive customer experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
Workflow & Processing Operations
- Work with the Warehouse Supervisor and processing team to manage workflow and balance the division of responsibilities amongst employees on each shift.
- Assign responsibilities and workstations to processing team members based on operational requirements.
- Supervise processing systems to ensure the effective and efficient flow of items from sorting, cleaning, testing, steam cleaning, research, and pricing through to the retail floor.
- Ensure processing activities are completed according to established criteria, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure the appropriate and timely recycling of items that cannot be used.
- Inspect, approve, and sign off on the disposal of damaged items or items deemed unusable for Find's purposes.
- Work closely with the Online Store Manager to process items for the online store.
- Work with Bissell personnel regarding donated items.
- Manage the donation door and support the efficient receipt and flow of donations.
Team Leadership & Staff Management
- Assist in the management of a team of approximately 10–12 employees engaged daily in the processing of furniture and household items.
- Work with the Warehouse Supervisor to identify staffing needs and submit staffing requests to the Warehouse Supervisor and/or Senior Management Team.
- Provide training and orientation to new staff and volunteers when required.
- Maintain open communication with co-workers and the Warehouse Supervisor regarding operational and staffing issues.
- Identify learning opportunities that are beneficial to staff and relevant to processing operations.
- Hold daily, weekly, and monthly department meetings and ensure information is effectively communicated to department staff.
- Recognize the contributions and efforts of fellow Team Members through genuine recognition activities.
- Hold oneself and fellow Team Members accountable for their roles and contributions to Find's mission and core purpose.
Health, Safety & Loss Control
- Supervise and support compliance with all health and safety procedures and policies established by Find.
- Prioritize safety in all tasks and ensure the safety of self, fellow Team Members, volunteers, and customers.
- Ensure all warehouse areas remain presentable, organized, clean, and safe.
- Identify tools and equipment required for processing operations.
- Maintain an inventory log for processing tools and equipment.
- Ensure staff are properly trained in the safe and appropriate use of tools and equipment.
- Support loss control initiatives and identify potential operational risks.
Communication & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain open and honest communication with co-workers, department staff, the Warehouse Supervisor, and supporting departments.
- Communicate operational and staffing issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes, communication, tasks, and the customer experience.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on their feet.
- Work effectively under pressure while maintaining professionalism and attention to operational requirements.
- Promote Find in a professional manner and deliver exceptional customer service by going above and beyond for Find customers.
- Demonstrate teamwork and engage fellow Team Members in contributing to Find's mission and core purpose.
- Interpret and implement company policies and procedures consistently.
Education & Experience
- Minimum of High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- 3–5 years of applicable experience, including experience supervising or leading others.
- Previous experience in warehouse, processing, retail, donation, distribution, or a related environment is an asset.
- Experience working with furniture, household goods, donations, or material processing is an asset.

- Ability to use Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Additional Requirements
- Must be available to work approximately 37.5 to 44 hours per week, Tuesday through Saturday, with flexibility to adjust hours according to business requirements.
- Must successfully pass a criminal record check.
- Must be able to wear steel-toe shoes/boots while working.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work under pressure in a physically demanding warehouse environment.
- Must prioritize personal and workplace safety in all tasks.
