As our HR Business Partner, you will be the senior HR leader across our Oakville and Hamilton facilities and a trusted partner to our leadership team. You will own employee relations, coach our leaders and supervisors, and build the programs a growing company needs - performance management, goal setting, onboarding, and a people strategy tied to the business plan. You will also lead recruiting - finding the welders, quality control analysts, project managers, and engineers our growth depends on - and lead our Health & Safety Specialist.
This role is equal parts builder and hands-on partner. You might design a framework in the morning and coach a foreperson through a difficult conversation in the afternoon.
What You Will Do
- Handle employee relations end to end, including fair, well-documented investigations.
- Coach senior leaders and build practical development for supervisors and forepersons.
- Design and run performance management and goal setting that fit a hands-on manufacturing culture.
- Own onboarding, training records, and HR files to the audit standard our nuclear work requires (CSA N299.2).
- Lead full-cycle recruiting, and build hiring pipelines with colleges, trade schools, and apprenticeship programs.
- Manage WSIB claims, return-to-work, and disability programs.
- Build our people strategy and an HR dashboard, and bring recommendations to leadership.
- Support our Health & Safety Specialist, and sit on the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
What You Bring
- Post-secondary education in HR, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience handling employee relations independently, including investigations and terminations.
- The confidence to challenge and coach leaders more senior than you - respectfully and directly.
- Working knowledge of Ontario employment law: ESA, Human Rights Code, OHSA, AODA, and WSIB.
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working to documented procedures.
- A valid driver’s licence and the ability to work on site at both facilities.
Nice to Have
- CHRP or CHRL designation, or working toward one.
- Experience in manufacturing, skilled trades, or a quality- or code-regulated environment.
- Experience building a performance management or goal-setting program.
- Full-cycle recruiting experience, especially for skilled trades or engineering roles.
- Experience with ADP or a comparable HRIS.
We care more about judgement, initiative, and leadership presence than years of service. If you are earlier in your HR career and this role excites you, we want to hear from you. Nuclear industry experience is not required.
