Position Summary
The Customer Service Representative is a member of the Community Services team and is responsible for providing customer service duties at various facilities throughout the Municipality. With the main locations being the Komoka Wellness Centre and the Ilderton Arena. This position is front line customer service and handles inquiries from residents, problem solves and receives and processes payments.
Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Acts as first point of contact for the public, answering inquiries over the telephone or in-person, provides information and refers callers/visitors to appropriate staff member when required.
- Receives payments and issues receipts in-person and through a variety of methods, balances float daily.
- Handles payment for admission to recreational skates, programs and rentals, ensuring the revenue collected is consistent with the municipality’s fees and charges by-law.
- Logs complaints/issues into the customer service database.
Supports the Community Services department with providing accurate information to residents. Administrative
- Provides basic administrative functions such as filing, email and phone communications
- Communicates with residents in a timely and professional manner
- Communicates with other staff as required.
- Creates dressing room schedule
- Undertakes special projects and performs other duties as assigned in accordance with departmental or corporate objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Minimum Grade 9 education completed.
Experience
- 6 months to 1 year of progressive experience working in a customer service-related environment.
- Previous cash handling experience.
Skills & Abilities
- Computer literacy using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills and proficient in servicing clients in person, on the phone, and by email.
- Demonstrate sound judgement and professionalism.
- Able to collaborate with staff at all levels.
- Experience with conflict resolution.
- Must be able to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.

Hours & Conditions of Work
This is a part-time position, and normal work hours are varied and include evenings and weekends.
Compensation
Middlesex Centre offers a competitive wage. Compensation for this position is currently $17.60 to $20.58 per hour.
