Coordinator, Residence Life

Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Residence Managers, the Coordinator, Residence Life will be part of a team to develop a supportive, engaging, and inviting residence community. The incumbent will support the housing program, including working with the Dean of Students and Residence Managers to identify and expand residence and student-focused programs. The Coordinator, Residence Life will assist the Residence Managers and act as the first point of contact for programming, student engagement within the residence community at Huron, and assist with the student behavioural management process and outcomes.
The Coordinator, Residence Life will also participate in the recruitment of the Don Team and work collaboratively with the Residence Team to plan and support initiatives for the residence community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of Huron's Residence Life Program and residential curriculum.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor Residence Dons, Residence Council members, and other student leaders in the residence community.
- Coordinate educational initiatives, leadership development opportunities, and residence-based learning experiences.
- Support student wellbeing through proactive community development, conflict resolution, and behaviour management programming.
- Administer residence policies and support the student conduct processes using educational and restorative approaches.
- Collaborate with campus partners to deliver programs related to leadership, wellness, inclusion, academic success, and civic engagement.
- Support residence operations, including move-in, move-out, room changes, and student accommodation processes.
- Evaluate programs, learning outcomes, and student engagement initiatives to support continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Completion of post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate from an accredited post-secondary institute; commensurate experience will also be considered.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in residence life, housing, student affairs, or a related post-secondary environment.
- Strong understanding of student development theory, community building strategies, post-secondary residence programing, and student engagement practices.
- Demonstrated experience with conflict resolution, crisis response, and behaviour management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with a commitment to fostering inclusive communities and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong administrative, organizational, project management abilities that support the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, student-centered environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion when handling sensitive matters.
- Flexibility to participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation to provide leadership during student crises and emergencies and work outside of the traditional hours of work including evenings and weekends.
- Willing to live on campus in single-occupancy apartment style accommodation.
Compensation:
The Coordinator, Residence Life, will receive a compensation package as follows:
- Annual salary of $42,000 subject to statutory deductions that Huron is required to make pursuant to law (including taxable benefits);
- Single-occupancy accommodation within our Huron residences valued at $12,600;
- A partial meal plan valued at $3,558 from September to April to be enjoyed at the Huron Dining Hall.
