Your Mission
Hydrostor is seeking a highly motivated and commercially minded Legal Counsel to join our growing global team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of clean energy, infrastructure, project development, finance, and corporate governance.
As Legal Counsel, you will provide practical legal guidance across a broad spectrum of business activities, partnering closely with cross-functional teams to support the development, financing, construction, and operation of Hydrostor's long-duration energy storage projects around the world. This is an exceptional opportunity for an early-career lawyer looking to expand their expertise beyond traditional corporate law and develop into a trusted business advisor within a purpose-driven organization.
Your Day-to-Day Adventures
- Provide practical day-to-day legal advice to internal stakeholders, identifying risks and opportunities while delivering business-focused solutions.
- Partner with teams across Commercial, Development, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, and other functions to support key business initiatives.
- Support external legal counsel on international project development, project financing, construction, regulatory, and corporate matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), procurement agreements, EPC contracts, land agreements, confidentiality agreements, and other business contracts.
- Prepare and review term sheets, joint development agreements, joint venture agreements, and other strategic transaction documents.
- Assist with equity and debt financing transactions and related legal documentation.
- Support corporate governance activities, including the preparation of board materials, resolutions, minutes, and corporate records.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of company policies, governance frameworks, and compliance initiatives.
- Provide legal support across a variety of areas, including employment, intellectual property, and general corporate matters.
- Stay informed on legal and regulatory developments that may impact Hydrostor's global operations.
- Take on special projects and additional responsibilities as business needs evolve.

You are an intellectually curious lawyer who enjoys collaborating with diverse teams and tackling complex challenges. You bring strong technical legal skills, sound judgment, and a practical approach to problem-solving. You thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, enjoy learning new areas of law and business, and are comfortable balancing multiple priorities. You are equally capable of working independently and contributing as part of a collaborative team.
What You Bring
- 2 to 5 years of post-call experience practicing corporate and commercial law at a leading law firm in Canada, the United States, Australia, or the United Kingdom.
- Experience supporting corporate transactions, commercial agreements, and related legal matters.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business advice.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative and service-oriented mindset.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work in a dynamic environment.
- Experience supporting project development, infrastructure, energy, or renewable energy transactions is considered an asset.
- Experience with international transactions or cross-border matters is considered an asset.
Compensation Details
- $120,000 - $150,000 base salary
