The Opportunity
IEG is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to join our team in Montréal.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability and performance of IEG's software applications. You will work closely with developers, project managers and other stakeholders to identify potential issues, validate new features and ensure that our products meet functional requirements and deliver a consistent user experience.
You will play an important role throughout the software development lifecycle, from reviewing requirements and preparing test scenarios to executing tests, documenting defects and verifying fixes.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with a strong attention to detail, a passion for software quality and the ability to think critically about how applications are used in real-world environments.
What You'll DoSoftware Testing & Quality Assurance
- Design, develop and execute test plans, test cases and test scenarios based on functional and technical requirements.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, system and exploratory testing.
- Validate new features, enhancements and bug fixes across IEG's software applications.
- Identify, document, prioritize and track software defects, ensuring clear and reproducible steps.
- Collaborate with developers to investigate issues, verify fixes and prevent recurring defects.
- Perform end-to-end testing to ensure that application workflows function as expected.
- Validate data accuracy, business rules, application logic and system integrations.
- Conduct cross-browser and compatibility testing where applicable.
- Ensure that software releases meet established quality standards before deployment.
- Maintain clear and organized test documentation, including test results and defect reports.
Requirements Analysis & Test Planning
- Review business requirements, functional specifications and technical documentation.
- Identify potential risks, edge cases and scenarios that may affect application functionality.
- Translate requirements into comprehensive test cases and acceptance criteria.
- Participate in requirement reviews and contribute feedback to improve product quality and usability.
- Ensure that test coverage aligns with business requirements and expected application behavior.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with developers, project managers and product stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
- Participate in team meetings, release planning and discussions regarding software quality.
- Communicate testing progress, risks, defects and potential release concerns.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, testing methodologies and documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency and reduce recurring issues.
- Help establish and maintain consistent quality assurance standards across projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
- 3+ years of professional experience in software quality assurance or software testing.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
- Experience creating and executing test plans, test cases and test scenarios.
- Experience performing functional, regression, integration and system testing.
- Ability to analyze requirements and identify potential defects, edge cases and inconsistencies.
- Experience documenting, tracking and managing defects.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a development team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Technical Skills
Experience with the following tools and technologies is an asset:
- SQL: Writing queries to validate data, investigate issues and verify database results.
- API Testing: Testing REST APIs using tools such as Postman or similar.
- Test Management: Managing test cases, test plans and test execution results.
- Defect Tracking: Using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps or similar.
- Browser Developer Tools: Investigating front-end issues and application behavior.
- Version Control: Familiarity with Git or similar tools.
- Automation Testing: Exposure to automated testing frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Playwright or Cypress.
- Performance Testing: Familiarity with performance and load testing concepts.
Nice to Have
- Experience testing web-based enterprise or B2B applications.
- Experience with database-driven applications and complex business workflows.
- Experience testing integrations between multiple systems.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Experience with test automation and automated regression testing.
- Knowledge of C#, .NET or ASP.NET applications.
- Experience testing applications used in operational environments.
- Experience in the aviation, airline, airport, travel, hospitality or loyalty industries.
- Interest in emerging technologies, including AI-assisted testing and automation.
