About the Opportunity
IFEL is seeking an experienced Piping Stress Engineer to support a compressed air piping project on an independent contract basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the piping stress model, performing stress analysis, evaluating piping loads and flexibility, and providing the required engineering deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the piping model in CAESAR II
- Perform piping flexibility and stress analysis
- Evaluate operating, sustained, thermal, and occasional load cases as applicable
- Review piping loads and support conditions
- Assess stresses and displacements against applicable requirements
- Identify and address potential piping stress issues
- Prepare analysis results and supporting engineering documentation
- Coordinate with IFEL regarding project requirements and technical questions
Project Scope
The project involves a compressed air piping system consisting of:
- Two compressors
- One dryer
- One receiver tank
- Several metres of 4” piping
- Main piping runs of 3” and 2.5”
- Primarily rigid piping connections
- CRN-certified Victaulic couplings
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Experience with piping stress analysis
- Proficiency with CAESAR II
- Experience with industrial piping systems
- Strong understanding of piping flexibility, stresses, loads, and supports
- Ability to work independently and manage project deliverables
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills
Software Requirement
Candidates must have access to CAESAR II through their own license or independently arrange to rent the software for the duration of the project.
Contract Details
This is an independent contractor opportunity for a project-specific scope of work. Compensation and project duration will be discussed with qualified candidates.
