About ILA Diagnostics
ILA Diagnostics, operated by Sangeeta Radiology Services Inc., is a newly established private diagnostic imaging and healthcare education centre located in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.
The clinic has been established to provide accessible, high-quality, patient-centred diagnostic ultrasound services to individuals, families, physicians, and other healthcare providers in Bridgewater and surrounding communities.
As a newly opened healthcare facility, ILA Diagnostics is in the process of establishing its clinical operations and building its patient base. The company has plans to expand its diagnostic imaging services, examination capacity, clinical offerings, and healthcare education activities as patient demand and operational capacity increase.
As part of this planned growth, the company is seeking a qualified and experienced Ultrasound Technologist / Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to support the clinic's current operations and contribute to the development and expansion of its ultrasound services.
Position Summary
The Ultrasound Technologist / Diagnostic Medical Sonographer will be responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with physician requisitions, established clinical protocols, professional practice standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Medical Director, radiologists, referring physicians, administrative personnel, and other healthcare professionals to provide safe, efficient, accurate, and patient-centred diagnostic imaging services.
The position will play an important role in establishing and maintaining the clinic's clinical operations as ILA Diagnostics develops its services and expands its diagnostic imaging capacity.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with physician requisitions and established examination protocols.
- Performing examinations within the technologist's education, training, competence, and authorized scope of practice, which may include:
- Abdominal ultrasound
- Pelvic ultrasound
- Obstetrical ultrasound
- Small-parts ultrasound
- Thyroid imaging
- Soft-tissue imaging
- Vascular ultrasound, where appropriately trained and authorized
- Obtaining high-quality diagnostic images, measurements, and technical information required for interpretation by radiologists or other authorized physicians.
- Reviewing patient histories, clinical indications, previous imaging information, and examination requirements before performing procedures.
- Confirming patient identity and examination details in accordance with clinic procedures.
- Explaining examination procedures to patients in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Maintaining patient comfort, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality throughout examinations.
- Recognizing situations requiring additional clinical attention and communicating relevant findings or technical concerns through appropriate professional channels.
- Maintaining accurate examination documentation and technical records.
- Entering and reviewing relevant information in applicable RIS, PACS, EMR, or other clinical information systems.
- Operating ultrasound equipment safely and appropriately.
- Performing routine equipment checks and quality-control procedures in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and clinic protocols.
- Identifying equipment or technical issues and reporting them to the appropriate person.
- Following infection prevention and control procedures.
- Maintaining compliance with applicable privacy, occupational health and safety, and professional practice requirements.
- Working collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, healthcare professionals, and administrative staff to support efficient patient flow and clinic operations.
- Participating in the development and refinement of clinical workflows, examination protocols, and quality-assurance processes as the clinic grows.
- Supporting the implementation of additional ultrasound services and expanded examination capacity as operational requirements develop.
- Participating in continuing education and professional development activities relevant to diagnostic medical sonography.
- Performing other related clinical duties reasonably associated with the position and the technologist's qualifications and scope of practice.
Qualifications
Required
- Diploma or degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Medical Ultrasound, or an equivalent recognized educational program.
- Current professional credentials appropriate to the examinations being performed.
- Eligibility to practise as a diagnostic medical sonographer/ultrasound technologist in Nova Scotia.
- Previous experience performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
- Demonstrated ability to obtain high-quality diagnostic images and measurements.
- Knowledge of ultrasound equipment, examination protocols, patient safety, and infection prevention procedures.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining appropriate professional standards and seeking clinical guidance when required.
- Strong patientcare, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation and protect confidential patient information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Sonography Canada certification or an equivalent recognized professional credential.
- Experience across multiple ultrasound examination areas, including abdominal, pelvic, obstetrical, small-parts, thyroid, soft-tissue, and/or vascular imaging.
- Experience working in a private diagnostic imaging environment.
- Familiarity with PACS, RIS, EMR, and digital diagnostic imaging workflows.
- Experience participating in quality assurance, equipment quality control, or clinical workflow development.
- Commitment to continuing professional education and maintaining current knowledge and skills.
Professional and Regulatory Requirements
The successful candidate must maintain all professional credentials, registrations, certifications, and/or other requirements applicable to the duties being performed in Nova Scotia.
Where applicable, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain appropriate professional standing and comply with all applicable standards, policies, legislation, and regulatory requirements governing diagnostic medical sonography practice.
Work Environment
The position is based at ILA Diagnostics in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.
The successful candidate will work in a professional outpatient diagnostic imaging environment and will interact directly with patients, physicians, radiologists, administrative staff, and other healthcare professionals.
The position is primarily performed during regular daytime clinic hours from Monday to Friday.
There are currently no routine evening, weekend, on-call, or out-of-town requirements associated with the position. However, the work schedule and duties may evolve as the clinic expands its services and operating capacity.

The position includes:
- Approximately 35 hours of work per week.
- Monday-to-Friday daytime schedule.

Probationary Period
Employment will be subject to a three (3) month probationary period.
During the probationary period, the employer will assess the employee's clinical competence, technical skills, patient-care standards, professionalism, reliability, communication, and overall suitability for the position.
Successful completion of the probationary period will be subject to satisfactory performance and the employer's applicable employment policies.
