Mechanical Project Manager
Impact Engineering is currently seeking a Professional Mechanical Engineer to lead projects at our Impact HQ, Buildings Engineering team, located in Vancouver, BC.
The ideal candidate will be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Technologist (P.Tech.) who is self-motivated and has a passion for sustainable, low carbon design. A strong background in mechanical building services design, with specific knowledge in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and energy is required for this position. Experience within the Healthcare Sector is desirable.
You are a detail-oriented team player with good communication skills and a desire to learn and grow. You will be independently leading project teams with support from senior engineers. Depending on interest, you will have the opportunity to grow and lead a permanent team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage projects and internal staff, providing clear direction and mentorship
- Client relationship management and primary point of contact through project delivery
- Design of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
- Manage project implementation and construction administration
- Support team to perform building load calculations using Excel and modeling software such as Carrier HAP and / or IES VE.
- Prepare energy studies and reports; analyze utility data and conduct engineering analysis
- Potential for business development (based on interest)
Skills / Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering Degree or Mechanical Technologist certification
- Currently registered as a P.Eng. or P.Tech. with EGBC / ASTT
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a mechanical P.Eng. / P.Tech. in building mechanical consulting is a requirement
- Strong understanding of a variety of mechanical equipment and systems
- Strong understanding of Codes and Standards (BCBC, VBBL, ASHRAE, CSA, NFPA)
- Ability to lead engineering project teams with confidence and strong communication
- Knowledge of design concepts and fundamentals
- Experience with drafting and modeling software
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Knowledge of building controls and energy management systems an asset
- Experience in sales and client interaction an asset
