We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Quality Manager to lead our Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for quality systems, certification readiness, inspection, customer and supplier quality, corrective action, continuous improvement and the development and maintenance of quality procedures while supporting our forging, machining, heat treating and inspection operations.
Position Summary
The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the company's Quality Management System (QMS), inspection processes, quality standards and certification programs. This position provides leadership and technical direction to quality personnel and works closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Purchasing, Sales and Management to ensure customer, regulatory, certification and internal quality standards are consistently met.
The Quality Manager will play a key role in developing procedures, maintaining audit and certification readiness, supporting MPI/NDT requirements, reducing defects, improving process capability, leading corrective actions, and driving a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management Systems
Manage, maintain and continuously improve the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring quality documentation accurately reflects plant practices, customer requirements and applicable quality standards.
Develop, write, revise, implement and control quality policies, procedures, work instructions, inspection standards, forms and records. Establish appropriate inspection criteria, testing requirements and quality control procedures throughout the manufacturing process, while maintaining effective document control and record retention practices.
Ensure quality requirements are clearly communicated throughout the organization and appropriately flowed down to suppliers.
Certifications & Compliance
Serve as the Management Representative and primary plant authority for quality-related certification programs. Lead the implementation, certification, maintenance and ongoing compliance activities associated with AS9100, ISO 9001 and other applicable customer or industry quality standards.
Lead and support Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) certification and related processes, including the development and maintenance of procedures, personnel qualification requirements, documentation and ongoing compliance.
Coordinate and lead internal audits and external customer, registrar and certification audits. Maintain audit schedules and ensure findings and non-conformities are appropriately investigated, corrected and effectively closed. Monitor changes to applicable quality standards and customer-specific requirements and coordinate necessary changes to plant procedures and practices.
Lead the Management Review process and provide senior management with information regarding QMS performance, risks, trends and improvement priorities.
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
Provide overall leadership for incoming, in-process and final inspection activities, including the establishment and maintenance of quality and inspection standards for forged products. Ensure inspection and testing requirements are clearly defined, documented and consistently applied throughout the manufacturing process.
Oversee calibration and testing programs to ensure measuring and testing equipment is appropriately controlled, and lead laboratory test functions and applications where applicable. Review quality and inspection results to ensure product conformity prior to shipment.
Analyze quality trends and statistical data to identify opportunities to improve product quality, process capability and reliability. Provide quality support across forging, machining, heat treatment, metallurgical inspection and related manufacturing processes.
Non-Conformance & Corrective Action
Lead the investigation and resolution of internal and external quality issues and customer complaints. Facilitate root cause analysis using appropriate tools and methodologies, including 5 Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa analysis, Corrective Action Reports (CARs), CAPA and statistical methods.
Initiate, assign, monitor and close corrective and preventive actions, ensuring corrective measures appropriately address root causes and are effective in preventing recurrence. Monitor defects, scrap, rework and other quality indicators to identify recurring or systemic quality issues requiring further action.
Customer & Supplier Quality
Maintain a high level of internal and external customer service relating to product quality and act as the primary plant contact and technical authority for customer quality concerns and non-conformances.
Lead customer complaint investigations and coordinate timely corrective action responses. Interpret customer specifications and quality requirements and ensure requirements are clearly communicated throughout the organization. Participate in customer visits, audits and quality meetings as required.
Work collaboratively with Purchasing and suppliers to ensure purchased materials, components and services meet established quality requirements. Support supplier qualification and quality evaluations, manage supplier corrective actions when required, and ensure applicable customer and quality requirements are appropriately flowed down to suppliers.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
Lead, mentor and develop Quality Inspectors, Technicians and other quality personnel. Establish departmental priorities and allocate resources to effectively support production and broader business requirements.
Design, develop and implement quality-related training programs and provide technical and statistical quality expertise to departments across the organization. Clearly communicate the Company’s quality philosophy, standards and expectations and promote a plant-wide culture of quality, accountability, customer focus and continuous improvement.
Support Lean Manufacturing and other continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and supporting opportunities to improve quality, reliability and manufacturing performance.
Quality Metrics & Reporting
Develop, monitor, analyze, and report key quality performance indicators, which may include:

Provide regular quality performance reports, trends, risks, and recommendations to senior management.
Education
Post-secondary education in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Metallurgy, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge / Skills
The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems and manufacturing quality practices, including working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001 and similar quality management standards. Practical knowledge and experience with Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) and related certification requirements is strongly preferred.
The Quality Manager must have demonstrated ability to develop, document, implement and maintain quality policies, procedures and work instructions, along with a strong understanding of internal and external auditing practices. The position requires the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, customer specifications and other technical requirements, as well as a working knowledge of measuring, inspection, calibration and testing equipment.
Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities are essential, including experience with root cause analysis, corrective action, SPC and statistical quality methods. The successful candidate will demonstrate high attention to detail, strong organizational and decision-making skills, and excellent verbal and written communication.
Strong leadership and team development capabilities are required, along with the ability to work independently, collaborate effectively across departments and maintain confidentiality. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Teams, is required, while experience with Microsoft Dynamics/DAX or a similar ERP system is considered an asset.
Work Experience
The successful candidate will bring 5–10 years of progressive quality experience within a manufacturing environment, including experience in a Quality Manager or senior quality leadership capacity. Experience within the forging and/or metals industry is preferred, with experience in steel manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, machining or other heavy industrial environments also considered relevant.
The position requires a demonstrated track record of quality leadership, including experience developing and implementing quality procedures and systems; leading or supporting ISO, AS9100 or comparable certification programs; and coordinating internal and external audits. Experience addressing audit non-conformities, customer quality concerns, corrective actions and root cause investigations is also required.
Experience with MPI/NDT programs, certifications or inspection processes is strongly preferred. Previous people leadership experience, including the ability to provide direction, coaching and development to quality personnel, is required.
Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel within Canada and the United States may be required for customer, supplier, training, or business requirements.
- International travel may rarely be required.

- Frequent plant floor visits and regular work in a manufacturing environment.
- Sitting in an office environment for extended periods while using a computer.
- Standing and walking through production and inspection areas.
