The Role
ICI is seeking an Intermediate or Senior Controls System Specialist to join our team in Barrie, Ontario.
This is a hands-on position involving control system design, PLC programming, HMI and SCADA development, process control, instrumentation, troubleshooting, commissioning, and electrical engineering. The successful candidate will work closely with ICI team members and customers to develop practical, reliable, and cost-effective automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
· Design and develop turnkey electrical control systems, from initial concept through implementation and commissioning.
· Complete electrical control system design, including control panels, instrumentation, I/O, and system architecture.
· Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs.
· Develop, modify, and troubleshoot HMI applications.
· Develop, modify, troubleshoot, and implement SCADA platforms, including system architecture, graphics, alarms, historian, reporting, and communications.
o Platforms include Ignition, AVEVA (Wonderware), FactoryTalk View SE, and other industry-standard SCADA platforms.
· Develop and execute project related documentation and testing, including Functional Testing (FT), Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and other related project documentation.
· Work directly with customers and end users to understand project requirements, provide technical guidance, communicate project status, and develop practical, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.
· Manage assigned projects and complete engineering and programming activities within established project schedules.
Qualifications
Required
- 3-year college diploma in a related field or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Intermediate: 5+ years of hands-on experience with control systems design and programming.
- Senior: 8+ years of hands-on experience with control systems design and programming.
- Strong understanding of electrical control system design and troubleshooting.
- Strong PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet project deadlines.
- Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence.
- Valid passport.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada and reside in Canada.
Preferred / Assets
· Experience with Ignition SCADA, including Perspective and/or Vision.
· Experience with Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley PLCs.
· Experience with Siemens, Omron, or Mitsubishi PLCs.
· Experience with SCADA systems such as AVEVA (Wonderware) or FactoryTalk View SE.
· AutoCAD / electrical drawing experience.
· Experience with industrial networking and communications.
· Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
· Experience with pharmaceutical, food & beverage, automotive, packaging, or other related manufacturing environments.
· Experience with OEE, MES and ERP systems
Compensation
Expected compensation range: $79,040.00 – $95,000.00+, depending on experience, qualifications, and level of responsibility.

Additional Information
- This position is for an existing vacancy.
- This is an on-site position based at ICI's Barrie, Ontario head office.
- Regular travel to customer facilities is required, with most customer sites located with in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
- English language proficiency is required.
