About the Opportunity
Insight Global's client is seeking a Software Developer to join its growing engineering team focused on building innovative financial services and money transfer solutions used by millions of customers worldwide. This role is ideal for a backend-focused engineer who is passionate about developing scalable applications, building robust APIs, and contributing to modern cloud-based systems. While the primary focus will be backend development, the successful candidate will also have opportunities to contribute to front-end initiatives and collaborate across the full software development lifecycle. Working within an agile environment, this individual will partner closely with Product Owners, engineers, and technical leaders to deliver high-quality software, improve platform capabilities, and help drive engineering excellence across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build and maintain scalable APIs, microservices, and backend services. Contribute to the design and evolution of cloud-native architectures.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and cross-functional teams to deliver new product features and enhancements. Participate in technical and architectural discussions, providing input on best practices and future-state solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following established engineering standards.
- Design and consume RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party services.
- Troubleshoot production issues, resolve bugs, and address technical debt.
- Support front-end development initiatives using Vue.js when needed.
- Help remove technical blockers and contribute to overall team delivery.
- Mentor team members and provide leadership support as needed.
- Continuously improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and monitoring capabilities.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong backend software development experience with Java.
- Hands-on experience developing applications using Spring Boot and Spring Framework.
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.
- Experience working in agile development environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience developing within microservices-based architectures.
- Proven ability to work independently and solve complex technical challenges.
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience with Vue.js or other modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Full-stack development experience.
- Experience working with AWS cloud services.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and modern DevOps practices. Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs.
- Exposure to Docker, Terraform, and automated testing practices.
- Fintech, payments, financial services, or money transfer industry experience.
- Previous leadership, mentoring, or technical guidance experience. Experience with Kotlin, Python, Redis, or event-driven architectures.
