Role Description This full-time Civil Engineering Technician or Technologist role is an on-site position based in Kingston, ON. The role involves supporting land development projects through civil engineering design, preparation of drawings and models using CAD software, and coordination with project managers and engineers. Day-to-day tasks include assisting with site grading, road and servicing design, reviewing survey data, and helping prepare technical reports and documentation for approvals. The technician or technologist will conduct field reviews as needed, support contract administration activities, and help ensure projects adhere to design standards, budgets, and schedules. Collaboration with internal team members, external consultants, contractors, and municipal authorities is an important part of this role.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 year experience in in Civil Engineering Design, with applied experience supporting land development or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent) for the preparation of engineering drawings and 3D models.
- Basic knowledge of Land Surveying principles and the ability to interpret survey data, site plans, and legal descriptions.
- Effective Communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and prepare clear technical documentation.
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related field, with eligibility or membership in a relevant professional association (e.g., OACETT) considered an asset.
- Understanding of municipal standards, Ontario design guidelines, and approval processes related to land development is an advantage.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a project-driven environment.
- Willingness to perform occasional field work and site visits to support design verification and contract administration.
