The Opportunity
The Paint Supervisor oversees all painting and finishing operations within the manufacturing facility to ensure high-quality product finishes, efficient workflow, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This role leads a team of painters, coordinates daily production requirements, and ensures proper use and maintenance of paint equipment and materials. The Paint Supervisor works closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to achieve consistent results, reduce rework, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
What you will do?
- Supervise, train, and mentor paint department employees to ensure consistent quality and productivity.
- Schedule daily painting activities to meet production requirements and delivery timelines.
- Ensure all paint processes, from surface preparation to final finishing, follow established standards and specifications.
- Inspect completed work for quality, color accuracy, surface finish, and adherence to customer or engineering requirements.
- Maintain paint booths, spray equipment, ventilation systems, and safety devices, ensuring proper functionality and compliance.
- Monitor inventory of paint materials, solvents, coatings, PPE, and supplies; coordinate reorders as needed.
- Implement and maintain safety protocols related to hazardous materials, flammable substances, and air-quality controls.
- Work closely with quality control to address defects or rework and implement corrective actions.
- Support process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance finish quality.
- Ensure proper documentation of paint processes, material usage, and work orders.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in industrial painting, coatings, or finishing preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing painting, with at least 1–2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Knowledge of paint application methods (spray, powder, electrostatic, etc.) and surface preparation techniques.
- Familiarity with paint chemistry, mixing ratios, curing requirements, and environmental controls.
- Experience with OSHA safety requirements and handling of hazardous materials (HazMat certification is a plus).
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot paint defects and equipment issues effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, technical data sheets, and engineering drawings.
