We are seeking a Director of Quality Control to join us at our head office who will provide strategic leadership for the company's quality management program across all projects and operations. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining quality standards, systems, and processes that ensure compliance, reduce risk, and support successful project delivery. Working closely with project teams, consultants, subcontractors, and leadership. The Director of Quality Control promotes a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company's Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and maintain quality policies, procedures, standards, inspection protocols, and reporting systems to ensure consistent quality practices across all projects.
- Define quality objectives, key performance indicators, acceptance criteria, and inspection and testing requirements to support project success and continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership and oversight of project quality control activities, including inspections, testing, material receiving processes, and verification of compliance with drawings, specifications, codes, and contract requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate quality performance across projects, reviewing inspection results, testing reports, deficiencies, and corrective actions to ensure quality standards are achieved.
- Lead root cause analysis investigations and implement corrective and preventive measures to reduce deficiencies, rework, and quality-related risks.
- Support project teams in identifying, assessing, and mitigating quality risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quality performance and recommend improvements to ensure compliance with company standards and project requirements.
- Support commissioning, functional performance testing, and project turnover activities to ensure completed work meets quality expectations and contractual obligations.
- Conduct project quality assessments and audits to evaluate the effectiveness of quality control processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Analyze trends in deficiencies, failures, and quality metrics, and provide recommendations to leadership to improve project outcomes and operational performance.
- Develop and deliver quality-related training, coaching, and resources to project teams to promote consistency, accountability, and best practices.
- Foster a quality-focused culture throughout the organization by promoting continuous improvement, proactive problem-solving, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with internal departments, consultants, subcontractors, and clients to support quality objectives and successful project delivery.
- Lead ongoing development of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality checklists, audit processes, and quality documentation standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through lessons learned, root cause analysis, and process optimization.
- Establish and maintain standardized quality management workflows within Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), ensuring consistent use of inspections, deficiencies, forms, checklists, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), issue tracking, document control, and reporting processes across all projects.
- Drive company-wide adoption and continuous improvement of ACC quality management tools by developing standards, templates, dashboards, and reporting metrics that enhance visibility, accountability, consistency, and quality performance across the organization.
- Collaborate with Operations, Construction, IT, and project teams to optimize ACC quality processes, ensuring accurate quality records, real-time reporting, effective deficiency management, and the capture of lessons learned to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Establish quality planning requirements that align inspections, testing, deficiency management, and verification activities with project sequencing and construction milestones, ensuring quality activities are proactively planned rather than reactively managed.
- Assume other related duties and responsibilities consistent with the scope and level of the position.
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible construction experience, including at least 5 years in a quality management, quality assurance, or quality control leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and managing Quality Management Systems (QMS) within the construction industry.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to build, coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams while fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
- Extensive experience managing quality programs on large-scale commercial, institutional, industrial, multi-family residential, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, building systems, and industry best practices.
- Experience working collaboratively with owners, consultants, regulatory authorities, subcontractors, and project teams.
- Thorough knowledge of contract documents, drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and project quality requirements.
- Strong understanding of quality management principles, continuous improvement methodologies, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
- Familiarity with commissioning, functional performance testing, project turnover requirements, and deficiency management processes.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Quality management certifications, such as ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or equivalent, are considered an asset.
