As an Electrical Engineering Design Student, you will join our broader Engineering Services team and gain hands-on experience in both an office and industrial setting. This role provides exposure to the design office environment and the opportunity to apply electrical design fundamentals to real-world projects. You will support design development activities and collaborate with experienced engineers and designers on projects that impact the Irving Oil Refinery, terminals, and energy transition initiatives
You will also participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing engineering processes and delivering long-term value.
The Electrical Engineering team is located within our Home Office building in Saint John.
Responsibilities:
Prepare electrical design drawings using AutoCAD software (Single Line Diagrams, Motor Schematics, EHT Drawings, etc.)
Prepare Engineering Work Orders
Prepare electrical equipment procurement documents (PPR, equipment datasheets, equipment specifications)
Prepare Electric Heat Tracing Design calculations
Field verifications
Low and Medium voltage power distribution
Lighting Design
Your Skills:
Comfortable working with cross-functional teams
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Adaptable and fluid with change, able to pivot as project needs evolve
Open to feedback and capable of critical thinking
Your Experience:
Currently enrolled in the Electrical Instrumentation & Controls Technician course or related technical disciplines
Must have completed at least 1 year of post-secondary education and be returning to school

Compensation – The weekly salary for this role will be based on your current work term. 1st - $795, 2nd - $875, 3rd - $960
