A Little About the Team
The Edmonton Community Development team delivers a diverse range of land and site development projects across Alberta, partnering with private developers, municipalities, architects, and contractors to help bring communities to life.
Team members play a key role in shaping projects from initial planning and due diligence through design, approvals, and construction, while building strong client relationships and working alongside internal multidisciplinary specialists in planning, landscape architecture, transportation, municipal, and buildings.

About the Role
Joining ISL's Community Development team and reporting to the Community Development Manager, you will enjoy flexible working hours and a hybrid model of work as you make the following valuable contributions:
- Lead the preparation of planning, design, tender, and construction administration deliverables, including design calculations, drawings, technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Prepare and coordinate key project elements including grading, stormwater management, roadway geometrics, municipal servicing for residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, multi-family, and park development projects.
- Manage day-to-day delivery of small and mid-sized projects, including scope, schedule, budget, resource coordination, and quality control, with support from senior project managers.
- Coordinate approvals and development applications with municipalities, utility providers, regulators, and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, municipal reviewers, and project partners through proactive communication and technical leadership.
- Support construction administration activities, including field reviews, contract administration, responding to contractor inquiries, and reviewing construction progress and quality.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, EITs, and technologists while contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Contribute to proposal preparation, fee estimates, client presentations, and business development activities that support the continued growth of the Community Development practice.
- Collaborate with professionals across multiple disciplines, including Community Planning, Landscape Architecture, Transportation, Municipal, and Buildings, to deliver integrated solutions for clients.
- Utilize Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and other engineering software tools to support the planning, design, and delivery of community development projects.

Your application should detail:
- Your interest in growing your career with ISL's Community Development team
- Evidence of your familiarity with Alberta's land development processes
Your resume must display:
- B.Sc. or B.Eng. in Civil Engineering (Civil Engineering Technology diploma also considered)
- Registered, or eligible for registration, with APEGA (P.Eng./E.I.T.) or ASET (P.Tech./C.E.T.)
- Primary experience: 7 to 10 years of progressive experience as an engineer working on land development or municipal infrastructure projects
- Secondary experience related to land development that indicates specialized knowledge (ie: site servicing and grading design, Alberta municipal approval processes, tendering and construction administration)
- Working knowledge of Alberta's land development process
- Working knowledge of Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Excel

Depending on your experience level and qualifications, the salary range (based on a 40-hour work week) is:
$100,000 – $150,000
