Isuma Distribution International

Founded in Nunavut Igloolik in 2003, Isuma Distribution International is Canada’s first Indigenous-owned film distributor specializing in Inuit and Indigenous-language films. IDI represents over 40 films including many award-winning Indigenous-language feature films, documentaries, and short fiction.

We work closely with film producers, exhibitors, community members, Indigenous collaborators, and national and international partners and broadcasters to generate wider market interest for independent Indigenous films. We also support community-based filmmaking initiatives, alternative screenings and remote community tours, and can provide advice and consulting to Indigenous filmmakers looking to broaden their scope and outreach within the film industry.

In 2008 we launched IsumaTV, a collaborative multimedia platform dedicated to Indigenous language videos. Created through a coalition of independent producers and non-profit broadcasters (Igloolik Isuma Productions; Nunavut Independent TV Network; Arnait Video Productions; Artcirq; ImagineNATIVE Film+Media Arts Festival; Vtape;) isuma.tv now hosts over 7,000 videos in over 70 Indigenous languages, as well as hosts Uvagut TV, Canada's first 24/7 Inuktut television channel.
