We are seeking a Full-Time Gatehouse & Security Associate to join our team in a fast-paced retail and lumber yard environment. This role is responsible for controlling site access, verifying customer purchases, monitoring yard traffic, and supporting loss prevention initiatives to ensure the security of company assets.
This is a full-time role requiring flexibility to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends as scheduled.
The ideal candidate will have a background in security, loss prevention, access protection, or a related field, along with strong attention to detail and excellent customer service skills. This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and interacting with customers, drivers, and associates throughout the day.
Responsibilities
· Monitor and control access to the property through the gatehouse.
· Verify customer purchases and inspect loads entering and leaving the yard to ensure accuracy and proper authorization.
· Process customer payments and operate registers, scanners, and debit/credit card terminals.
· Support loss prevention initiatives by identifying suspicious activity, theft risks, and policy violations.
· Conduct security checks and maintain awareness of yard activity.
· Ensure all merchandise leaving the premises has been properly accounted for and paid for.
· Report theft, security concerns, accidents, injuries, and policy violations to management immediately.
· Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and gatehouse activities.
· Provide professional and courteous customer service while enforcing company policies.
· Assist with directing vehicle traffic and ensuring a safe work environment.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
· Previous experience in security, loss prevention, access control, law enforcement, or a related field.
· Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to remain calm and professional when handling difficult situations.
· Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
· Basic computer and cash-handling experience.
· Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
· Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
· Ability to perform physically demanding tasks as required, including lifting light to heavy merchandise.
Preferred
· Knowledge of lumber, building materials, or retail operations.
· First Aid or other security-related certifications considered an asset.
