Corporate Accounting Manager, Multi-Entity Software Group
Toronto, ON (Hybrid, 3x a week in office)
About the Company
Our client is a profitable, well-capitalized software company that acquires and operates a growing group of software businesses. Instead of buying and flipping, they buy great companies, keep them, and help them grow.
The Role
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to own accounting, not supervise it from a distance. Much of the group's accounting currently sits with an external provider. Your job is to take that over and bring it in-house.
You'll run full-cycle accounting across a set of operating companies, from P&L to balance sheet, and be the person who knows those books inside and out. The finance team is lean by design, so you'll have real ownership from day one and a clear path to take on more, including AP and treasury.
What You'll Do
- Own the month-end and quarter-end close across your operating companies, from journal entries through reconciliations and financial statements
- Take accounting work back from the external provider and build clean, repeatable processes in-house
- Own balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations, deferred revenue, and intercompany
- Partner with the financial reporting team on audit prep and act as a key point of contact for external auditors
- Help onboard newly acquired companies, including opening balance sheets, chart of accounts mapping, and systems setup
- Keep policies and accounting treatment consistent across a growing multi-entity group
- Spot what's broken or manual and fix it
What You Bring
- CPA designation
- Roughly 4–8 years of accounting experience; many strong candidates will have started in public accounting audit before moving into industry
- Full-cycle accounting experience, with a close you've owned yourself and not just reviewed
- Solid technical accounting chops, including revenue recognition and consolidations
- Comfort working autonomously and owning outcomes end to end
Big Pluses
- IFRS experience
- Multi-entity, holding company, or PE-backed environment
- Software or SaaS exposure
- Experience with acquisitions or integrations
- NetSuite, though systems can be taught
Why This Role
- Real ownership: you're building the function, not maintaining someone else's
- Visible growth path into AP, treasury, and beyond as the group scales
- Exposure to M&A inside a company that acquires regularly
- A sharp, lean finance team with no bureaucracy
