As our commercial and industrial portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking a Plumbing & Heating Estimator to support our estimating and project delivery teams.
Role OverviewThe Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates for commercial and light‑industrial plumbing and heating scopes. This role supports tendering, budgeting, procurement, and project handover activities, ensuring all estimates reflect JDC Mechanical’s standards for compliance, constructability, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed material and labor estimates for commercial and light‑industrial plumbing and heating systems.
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and tender documents to develop accurate takeoffs.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain pricing and evaluate cost options.
- Support Project Managers with budgets, procurement strategies, and cost tracking.
- Participate in internal handover meetings and provide technical insight during project startup.
- Maintain organized estimating documentation and contribute to the development of internal cost databases.
- Ensure all estimates align with ABSA, Safety Codes Act, and JDC Mechanical’s compliance standards.
Qualifications- Experience estimating commercial or light‑industrial mechanical projects (plumbing/heating focus).
- Strong understanding of commercial mechanical systems, materials, and installation practices.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and tender packages.
- Proficiency with estimating software, Excel, and digital takeoff tools.
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Mechanical background (Journeyman Plumber, Mechanical Engineering, or Technical Diploma) considered an asset.
