About the job Concrete & Rebar Lead
The Concrete & Rebar Lead is responsible for coordinating and overseeing concrete, reinforcing steel, and formwork activities for mining and industrial projects. This position works closely with engineering, construction, contractors, suppliers, and project teams to ensure concrete and rebar works are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements, schedules, specifications, and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Concrete & Rebar Coordination
- Lead and coordinate concrete, reinforcing steel, and formwork activities across assigned project work fronts.
- Coordinate construction sequencing, manpower, equipment, materials, and concrete placement requirements.
- Review drawings, specifications, and construction requirements to support effective execution.
- Coordinate rebar installation, formwork, embeds, concrete placement, finishing, curing, and related activities.
- Identify construction constraints, technical issues, and potential impacts to schedule and coordinate solutions.
Construction & Contractor Coordination
- Coordinate concrete and rebar contractors, subcontractors, crews, and suppliers.
- Monitor productivity, workmanship, progress, and compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate concrete pours, deliveries, equipment, access, and site logistics.
- Participate in pre-pour meetings, site inspections, coordination meetings, and construction planning activities.
- Coordinate with engineering and other disciplines to resolve field issues and construction interfaces.
Schedule & Progress
- Monitor concrete and rebar activities against project schedules and key milestones.
- Track quantities, progress, productivity, manpower, and material requirements.
- Coordinate upcoming concrete pours and ensure required materials, drawings, inspections, and resources are available.
- Identify delays, constraints, and opportunities to improve construction sequencing and productivity.
- Provide regular progress updates to project management and project controls.
Quality & Technical
- Ensure concrete and rebar work is completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and QA/QC requirements.
- Coordinate rebar inspections, formwork inspections, pre-pour inspections, concrete testing, and required documentation.
- Support resolution of deficiencies, non-conformances, and quality issues.
- Coordinate concrete mix requirements, testing, placement, finishing, and curing activities.
- Ensure embeds, sleeves, anchor bolts, and other interfaces are properly coordinated prior to concrete placement.
Safety & Environmental
- Promote a strong safety culture across all concrete and rebar activities.
- Ensure crews and contractors comply with project safety requirements and safe work practices.
- Identify and address hazards associated with lifting, formwork, rebar installation, concrete placement, and heavy equipment.
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and corrective actions.
Interdisciplinary Coordination
- Liaise with engineering, construction, project controls, procurement, contractors, and other project disciplines.
- Coordinate concrete and rebar interfaces with structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and process systems.
- Communicate work status, risks, outstanding actions, and schedule impacts to relevant stakeholders.
- Support completion, punch list, and handover activities.
