With so many moving pieces, no two days look quite the same. One moment you may be reviewing financial results with the Board, and the next you may be solving an operational issue, checking in with employees or helping ensure customers have what they need. The Co-operative is looking for a capable, approachable and hands-on leader who enjoys variety and wants to make a meaningful impact.
About The Opportunity
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager will provide leadership across all areas of the Co-operative.
You will oversee daily operations, employees, finances, inventory, facilities, vehicles and equipment while ensuring each division runs safely, efficiently and with the high level of service the community has come to expect.
This is not a sit-behind-a-desk kind of role. It is an opportunity to become a visible and trusted leader within the organization and the community. You will work closely with the Board, support employees across several areas of the business and help position the Co-operative for continued success.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the daily operations of the Co-operative’s grocery, hardware, lumber, feed, fuel, fisheries, lobster and bait divisions
- Provide clear direction, support and leadership to employees across the organization
- Monitor budgets, revenues, operating costs, accounts receivable and overall financial performance
- Review and authorize invoices and payments in accordance with established financial controls
- Oversee inventory, purchasing, merchandise pricing and supplier relationships
- Ensure facilities, vehicles, machinery and equipment are properly maintained and operated safely
- Respond to staffing, customer service, maintenance and operational issues as they arise
- Build strong relationships with members, customers, employees, suppliers and community partners
- Prepare for and attend monthly Board meetings, providing clear and practical updates
- Represent De La Tour Co-operative at relevant meetings, conferences and community events
What You Bring
- Several years of progressive management or operational leadership experience
- Experience overseeing employees, budgets, inventory and day-to-day business operations
- Strong financial awareness and the ability to understand what the numbers are saying about the business
- The ability to lead multiple divisions and balance competing priorities
- Strong communication, customer service and relationship-building skills
- Comfort using standard computer programs and financial, inventory or point-of-sale systems
