As our next Business Intelligence Analyst, Finance & Operations will serve as the primary Power BI specialist supporting our Canadian operations and shared services functions. This role combines data analytics, reporting development, systems integration, and business partnership to improve decision-making across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Leadership.
You will work with data from multiple ERP and business systems to develop scalable reporting solutions, improve data quality, automate manual processes, and transform complex information into meaningful, actionable business insights. What Youâll Be Doing:
- Serve as the primary Power BI subject matter expert for Canadian operations and shared services.
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, data models, KPI scorecards, and executive-level performance reporting tools.
- Develop and maintain data models, relationships, measures, and calculations using DAX and Power Query best practices.
- Enhance existing reporting solutions and identify opportunities to improve reporting effectiveness, accessibility, and user experience.
- Create automated reporting solutions that reduce manual effort and improve the availability of business information.
- Monitor and optimize dashboard performance, data refreshes, and reporting processes.
- Maintain reporting documentation, report inventories, and user guides.
- Identify opportunities to digitalize and automate manual business and reporting processes.
- Use Power BI, SQL, Power Query, Power Automate, and other analytics tools to improve business visibility and operational efficiency.
- Extract, transform, and validate data from Oracle, CMS, and other business systems.
- Develop and troubleshoot SQL queries and data-extraction processes supporting reporting and analytical requirements.
- Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to improve system connectivity, reporting automation, and data accessibility.
- Evaluate new technologies and analytics tools that enhance reporting, automation, and decision-making.
- Support adoption of reporting solutions through training, documentation, and ongoing user support.
- Improve data integrity across ERP, reporting, and business systems through validation, standardization, and process improvements.
- Maintain data mappings, reporting structures, and master-data relationships used within Power BI environments.
- Partner with Finance, Operations, and IT to establish consistent KPI definitions, business rules, and reporting standards.
- Help ensure reporting accuracy, consistency, and transparency across multiple plants and business functions.
- Support the development and maintenance of reporting governance practices and documentation.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements through automated reporting solutions and data analytics.
- Work with business unit controllers, operations leaders, and management teams to understand reporting needs and business challenges.
- Assist with the analysis of business performance, sales trends, operational metrics, and financial results.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning through reporting and analytical tools.
- Translate complex business and technical data into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations.
- Respond to ad hoc reporting and analytical requests from stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience: Three to five years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Reporting Systems, or a related field.
- Education: Degree or diploma in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Power BI Expertise: Advanced Power BI capabilities, including data modeling, DAX, Power Query, dashboard development, and performance optimization.
- SQL Skills: Strong SQL skills with the ability to develop and troubleshoot complex queries.
- Systems Integration: Experience integrating, transforming, and validating data from multiple business systems.
- Microsoft Excel: Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- ERP Experience: Experience with Oracle, CMS, or comparable enterprise platforms is preferred.
- Manufacturing Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
- Additional Technology Experience: Experience with Power Automate, Microsoft Fabric, Cognos, Python, or other analytical programming tools is considered an asset.
- Emerging Analytics Tools: Familiarity with AI-assisted analytics tools, Copilot, machine learning concepts, or predictive analytics is considered an asset.
- Analytical Strength: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to transform data into actionable business insights.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Business Partnership: Demonstrated success translating business requirements into practical reporting and analytical solutions.
