Role Description The National Buyer is a full-time, hybrid role based in Toronto, ON, with flexibility for some work-from-home arrangements. This role is responsible for managing national purchasing activities, including sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and maintaining cost-effective inventory levels across the organization. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing demand and spend data, developing procurement strategies, issuing and managing purchase orders, and monitoring supplier performance to ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance with company standards. The National Buyer collaborates closely with operations, finance, and logistics teams to align purchasing decisions with business objectives, support continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to long-term supplier partnerships.
Qualifications
- Strong procurement and purchasing skills, including supplier sourcing, contract negotiation, and inventory management.
- Experience with data analysis and forecasting to support purchasing decisions and cost optimization.
- Knowledge of material handling or industrial equipment, or experience in a related manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Proficiency with ERP or procurement systems and standard office software (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
- Solid organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work setting.
- Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; professional procurement designation (e.g., SCMP, CPSM) is an asset.
