Job Overview
This role interacts with other administrators (server, network, database) and project teams to ensure application availability and to maintain the technical environment, including software, security/access management, capacity management, monitoring and performance.
This position also acts as the Tools Specialist responsible for the tools supporting the applications. This includes development of, configuration of, and knowledge of requirements management and other tools. The Application Administrator monitors and manages IT configuration items and verifies they work to the defined specifications. The Application Administrator also provides support as analyst for business (internal and external) and IT teams bridging the gap between technology solutions and business functions.
This is a 2-year term located at the KPMG Building downtown Calgary on the current hybrid schedule, targeting Oct 2026 for a start date.
Must Haves
- Degree in Computer Science, IT or related field, or a Diploma in IT Administration with equivalent work experience
- 7+ 10 years IT experience including application deployments and support
- Experience providing Support for Mission Critical Applications by managing prod and non-prod environments.
- 3+ years Utilities industry experience
- Experience with most of the following technologies:
- DevOps experience

Accountabilities Include
- Provide Support for Mission Critical Applications by managing prod and non-prod environments.
- Deploy new applications and releases in collaboration with cross functional IT team.
- Deploy application using some of these technologies: Tomcat, Azure API, Entra ID, JDBC, Java EE/SE, Redis, Spring boot/Hibernate, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Python, PowerShell and security certificates
- Manage capacity, availability, continuity and security of various applications environments.
- Monitor applications performance Logs, investigate issues and execute tuning and maintenance tasks.
- Perform service restoration tasks and activities related to incident, problem, change and release management processes.
- Deliver high-quality results on assigned applications project tasks.
- Ensure compliance of mission critical systems with JSG’s client standards
- Automate application administration functions using appropriate technology.
- Support datacenter maintenance, annual business continuity and IT security exercises as Application Administrator
- Provide 24X7 on-call support on rotation with four other application administrators.
- Must have experience working with Windows servers, Red hat Linux, Oracle, PostgreSQL and MS SQL server databases.
