Role Description As a Founding Engineer at June Accounting and Analytics, you will architect, build, and maintain core product features for our forecasting and analytics tools used by founders and CFOs. You will collaborate closely with CPAs, fractional CFOs, and leadership to translate complex financial workflows into intuitive, reliable software. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing system architecture, implementing front-end and back-end components, integrating third-party APIs, and ensuring security, performance, and scalability. You will also contribute to product strategy, participate in code reviews, establish engineering best practices, and help shape the culture of a growing technical team. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Montreal, QC, with flexibility for part-time work from home.
Qualifications
- Strong software engineering skills, including experience with modern programming languages, software architecture, and version control systems.
- Proficiency in web application development (e.g., front-end frameworks, back-end services, RESTful APIs, and databases).
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices (e.g., CI/CD, monitoring, containerization, and security best practices).
- Ability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders and translate financial or business requirements into technical solutions.
- Background or strong interest in fintech, accounting, financial analytics, or tools for founders and CFOs.
- Track record of working in early-stage or startup environments, with comfort taking ownership and operating with limited structure.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and reliability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
