SUMMARY
Reporting to the Clinical Services Coordinator, the Clinical Scheduler is responsible for facilitating effective individual and group clinical consults for community telemedicine sites. The Clinical Scheduler is the point of contact for Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN). S/he consults with the Clinical Services Coordinator on clinical issues and works closely with OTN on scheduling matters. S/he maintains the master record of clinical telemedicine events for KO eHealth Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works collaboratively with all staff and partners to ensure a high-quality telemedicine delivery.
- Schedules and facilitates clinical consults.
- Keeps accurate records of clinical consults.
- Uses TSM to search for unscheduled, pending and confirmed events on a regular basis.
- Cancels unconfirmed events within 48 hours of event.
- Updates patient profiles and regularly monitors profiles in TSM
- Ensures proper documentation notes in Ncompass event log.
- Ensures requests for nursing protocols is faxed to nursing station.
- Participates in annual performance evaluation as required.
- Collects and processes confidential data and information according to PHIPA guidelines.
- Participates in training and education session to staff team.
- Reports to Clinical Services Coordinator when scheduling department is not notified of consult request.
- Facilitates ongoing technical support to ensure videoconferencing equipment is always functional, reports technical issues to the OTN and KNET service desk.
- Notifies Healthcare Providers by telephone and email when there is a cancellation.
- Demonstrates commitment to staff team by participating in staff meetings and regional clinical meetings.
- Maintains good communication links with the communities to facilitate effective telemedicine activities.
- Participates in training and updating activities as required.
- Undertakes special projects and research as required.
- Assist with data collection and reconciliation regarding activity logs. S/he will provide a clerical role to KO e-Health services and support data transmission to Health Canada.
- Collects and monitors incoming data and investigates missing data through communication with staff located in remote First Nations.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director and Clinical Services Coordinator, eHealth.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent; preferably post-secondary education.
- First Nations community-based experience is preferred; administrative experience in a health or social service field is an asset.
- Experience working with diverse partners; familiarity with health system in the district
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment and complete work on schedule
- Proficiency in computer programs such as M/S Word, Excel, and the use of email; ability to learn communications technology and systems software quickly.
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, and of the geographical and health care challenges of First Nations in the Sioux Lookout district.
