Kelly Services is recruiting for an experienced Automation Technician / Robotics & Automation Technician to join a growing manufacturing organization in Cambridge.
This is an exciting opportunity for an automation professional who enjoys a combination of robot programming, PLC programming, troubleshooting, process improvement, and hands-on support of automated manufacturing equipment. You'll have the opportunity to make a direct impact on production by improving processes, supporting automation initiatives, and helping keep operations running efficiently.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting automation projects from implementation through ongoing optimization while working closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Leadership teams.
What You'll Be Doing
- Program, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial robotic systems
- Program and support PLC-controlled automation equipment
- Diagnose and resolve robotic, PLC, and automated equipment issues
- Support production by minimizing downtime and resolving automation-related challenges
- Lead automation projects from implementation through commissioning and ongoing support
- Design, modify, and support robotic jigs, fixtures, and tooling
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and throughput
- Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and automation improvements
- Maintain technical documentation, procedures, and operating standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support manufacturing objectives
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations
- Travel occasionally within North America as required
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of robotics and automation experience within a manufacturing environment
- Experience programming industrial robots
- PLC programming experience
- Strong troubleshooting skills with robotic and automated equipment
- Experience with jigs, fixtures, tooling, or automated manufacturing systems
- CAD experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel occasionally within North America
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Yaskawa robots
- Experience with FANUC, ABB, KUKA, or other industrial robotics platforms
- Robotic cell integration and commissioning experience
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement experience
- Diploma or degree in Robotics, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience supporting automation projects from concept through implementation
