Cost Accountant
Location: Brantford, ON
Salary: $85,000.00 – CAD$110,000.00
Working Type: Full-Time, On-Site | Monday to Friday
Our client, has a permanent opening for a Cost Accountant, who will play a key role in understanding and improving the financial performance of the manufacturing operation. The position will focus heavily on Bill of Materials (BOM), product costing and ERP systems, while also providing financial analysis, supporting budgeting activities and preparing financial reports that help drive both short- and long-term business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and influence site operational and financial performance, working closely with the management team.
- Report on standard costing, including yield, labour, Bill of Materials and overhead performance.
- Maintain and update product costing information for both New Product Development (NPD) and existing products.
- Prepare and analyze weekly financial and operational performance reports to support business decision-making.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual management reporting, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
- Monitor income and expenditure, analyze departmental costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Oversee and support financial systems, including SAP S/4HANA and Evolve4.
- Reconcile accounts and provide financial support to operational teams.
- Use Power BI to provide financial analysis and reporting.
- Present financial information and insights to non-finance stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
- Collaborate across Finance, Operations and other departments to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute ideas that improve operational and financial performance.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects, process improvements and strategic business initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3–5 years of experience with Bill of Materials (BOM) in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA is required.
- Working knowledge and, preferably, practical experience with Power BI.
- Strong understanding of production processes from both an operational and ERP perspective.
- Excellent Excel skills with the ability to analyze and interpret financial and operational data.
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a cost-plus environment is an asset but not required.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both Finance and non-Finance teams.
