About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading Canadian financial institution, is seeking a Counterparty Credit Risk Analyst to join a high-performing team within the Market Risk and Counterparty Analytics function. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with trading, risk management, credit, operations, and technology teams while supporting critical risk management activities across global capital markets businesses.

What You'll Be Doing
As part of the Credit Exception Management team, you will be responsible for monitoring, investigating, and escalating counterparty credit risk exposures while ensuring compliance with established risk limits and governance standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Investigate and escalate counterparty credit limit excesses and exception events.
- Analyze, monitor, and report risk exposures across trading and non-trading portfolios.
- Validate information received from stakeholders and perform independent risk investigations.
- Ensure accurate measurement, aggregation, and reporting of counterparty exposures.
- Partner with Credit Risk, Front Office, Market Risk, Operations, Audit, and Technology teams.
- Support implementation of new or revised credit facilities, policies, and infrastructure enhancements.
- Perform impact assessments, requirements documentation, testing, and process improvements.
- Monitor production issues, reporting breaches, and control exceptions.
- Conduct ad hoc analysis of transactions, exposures, and portfolio risks.
- Maintain strong understanding of derivatives, fixed income products, and counterparty credit risk methodologies.
Required Qualifications
Must-Have Experience
- 3-7 years of relevant experience within Banking, Capital Markets, Risk Management, or Financial Services.
- Strong understanding of:
- Counterparty Credit Risk
- Capital Markets
- Derivatives (including OTC derivatives)
- Fixed Income/Bond products
- Proven investigation and analytical experience in a risk, credit, trading support, or market risk environment.
- Experience working with complex financial systems, vendor platforms, databases, and reporting tools.
- Experience performing:
- Impact assessments
- Business requirements gathering/documentation
- User acceptance testing (UAT)
- Process improvement initiatives
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to navigate multiple systems to independently research issues.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills and ability to work across business, risk, operations, and technology teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Commerce, or a related field.
- Post-graduate education is an asset.
- CFA or FRM designation (completed or in progress) is highly preferred.
- Experience within Market Risk, Counterparty Risk, Credit Risk, or Global Markets environments.
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, VBA, or AI-based analytical tools is considered an asset.
