Role Description The ZEISS CMM Consultant – Part-Time role at Ker-Train Research Inc. involves operating and programming and training staff on ZEISS coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to support precision inspection of mechanical components and assemblies. The consultant will develop and execute measurement routines, analyze results, and provide clear documentation to support product development and validation activities. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with engineering staff on measurement requirements, troubleshooting measurement issues, maintaining CMM equipment and software, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Kingston, ON, requiring consistent presence at the facility to support hands-on inspection and close coordination with the technical team.
Qualifications
- Strong experience with ZEISS CMM operation, programming (e.g., CALYPSO), and interpretation of measurement data.
- Proficiency in dimensional metrology, GD&T, and precision inspection of mechanical components.
- Background in mechanical or automotive engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical field.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications.
- Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to document findings clearly and accurately.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with engineers, technicians, and project teams on-site.
- Experience with CAD/CAM tools and quality management systems is an asset.
- Relevant technical diploma or degree, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
