Kichton Construction LP (KCLP) is the Fort McMurray-based heavy civil entity within the Kichton Group of Companies which has been operating since 1963. Kichton Construction LP commenced operations in 2019 to serve the Energy and Mining industries throughout North America. Since inception, KCLP has grown sustainably and exponentially, starting with 30 experienced team members in 2019, to now over 400 team members and over 300 pieces of heavy equipment.
The Role
We are seeking a full-time Maintenance Supervisor to supervise our HET’s, apprentice HET’s, and preventative maintenance technicians across various AB oilsands sites North of Fort McMurray (Base Mine, Fort Hills, Syncrude MLX). We will consider either a subcontractor or a direct hire to come on the payroll. The ideal candidate is a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician with strong technical skills. He/she is a self-described “master mechanic” who enjoys rolling up their sleeves to mentor, train and lead our heavy-duty mechanics, apprentices and preventative maintenance technicians. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience working on equipment involved in mining and oil sands operations.

Location/Job Details
- Fort Hills, Syncrude Mildred Lake and Suncor Base Mine, Fort McMurray, AB.
- 12-hour days, 14 days on, 7 off.
- Camp accommodation or LOA.
- Fast-paced, busy work environment.
- Repetitive bending and lifting up to 50 pounds required.
- Travel is required in various weather conditions and on site in the mine (very rough terrain).
- Subcontractors will come on at a flat hourly rate that will be negotiated based on experience.
- Hourly wage is negotiable based on experience with OT at 1.5 x the regular rate (bi-weekly pay).
- OT after 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week
- 9.6% Vacation and Statutory Holiday pay on all regular hours.
- Extended health, dental, vision, travel and paramedical coverage after 90 days.

- Provide training, mentorship and leadership to heavy duty mechanics and fuel and lube technicians.
- Perform competency and wage assessments. Provide corrective action and discipline as needed.
- Determine/forecast manpower requirements.
- Put together and approve time sheets.
- Review sub-contractor hours and billing.
- Laise with the shop and maintenance coordinator to ensure site has consumables and equipment they need.
- Assist crews with troubleshooting and repairing various types of Heavy Equipment.
- Complete detailed service and repair reports at the end of each shift.
- Train techs on retrieving and decoding fault codes on equipment.
- Diagnose and decide if vehicle repairs and warranty or above your team’s scope.
- Responsible for sourcing part numbers and working with the Parts Department to order parts and filters for repairs.
- Complete daily documentation thoroughly, including: FLHAs, timesheets, pre-and-post inspections of all tools and equipment, etc.
- Review, understand, and follow all safe work practices and procedures.
- Report incidents, near misses, equipment damage, and hazards to Supervisors immediately.
- Positively participate in all toolbox talks and all applicable company/site meetings.
- 10+ years working in a similar role preferrable in a mine setting.
- Journeyperson HET certificate required. Extremely technically sound.
- Experience troubleshooting.
- Must be proficient in English, both verbally and written.
- Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a good driver's abstract.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
- Experience using B2W software would be considered an asset.
- Experience using Microsoft Suite of Products required e.g. excel, outlook, calendar,

- Able to organize and plan tasks with minimal supervision and able to adapt to changing priorities quickly.

Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and assess heavy-duty mechanics, apprentices, and fuel and lube technicians while planning staffing and reviewing time sheets and subcontractor billing. Support equipment troubleshooting and repairs, coordinate parts and site supplies, complete shift documentation, and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
Requirements
Requires a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certificate, 10 or more years of relevant experience - preferably in mining - and strong technical troubleshooting skills. Candidates must have a valid Class 5 driver's license with a good abstract, pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, be proficient in spoken and written English, and have Microsoft Office experience.
