The Opportunity
We are seeking an Air Import Coordinator to support the daily operations and customer service activities within our Air Import Department. In this role, you will help coordinate import shipments, ensure timely and accurate processing of freight, and support the smooth execution of operational activities.
In addition, you will provide excellent customer service and sales support to current and prospective customers, while acting as a key liaison between internal staff members and outside customers to ensure effective communication and a high level of service.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver exceptional customer service as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, concerns, and complaints, with special attention given to assigned key accounts.
- Support import/export operations across air, ocean, freight, and sales functions while ensuring the accurate processing of documentation to minimize errors.
- Prepare and complete accurate monthly reports as requested by management and customers.
- Provide shipment information to import/export customers and assist the sales team with rate negotiations and service quotations.
- Maintain accurate filing systems, enter and update shipment details in company systems, and ensure billing information is correct.
- Coordinate shipments and issue pre-alert notifications to customers and related departments as required.
- Assist the division/department manager with the effective maintenance and compliance of the company's ISO policies.
- Participate in meetings and contribute to the achievement of terminal-wide objectives.
- Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and workplace practices.
- Promptly report any unsafe activities or conditions to a supervisor and/or Human Resources.
- Receive guidance on overall objectives for assigned tasks and projects while determining appropriate methods, work sequences, scheduling, and approaches to achieve desired results within established policy guidelines.
- Provide backup support within the department during peak workloads, employee vacations, and unexpected absences.
- Contribute to proactive team initiatives aimed at achieving departmental and organizational goals.
- Demonstrate leadership by setting a positive example and sharing knowledge, skills, and expertise with others.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned by management.
What You Bring
- Formal academic training in a related field, with CITT or CIFFA certification preferred, combined with two to four years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of documents, including safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence accurately and effectively.
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently when presenting information to groups of customers or employees within the organization.
- Proficiency in calculating figures and amounts, including discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply fundamental algebraic and geometric concepts in practical situations.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in email, record management, routine database activities, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and other standard business applications.
Compensation: Salary range starting from $47,000 to $50,000 per year, with opportunities for growth and advancement based on performance and contribution.
