We are currently looking to add a new FULL-TIME Permanent Equipment Operator/Labourer to our Winnipeg Bulk Yard Operations. The hours of work will be Monday to Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Operational demands require overtime (after shift and weekends).
Position Details On the job training will be provided to perform these tasks:
- Operate loaders, forklifts, trucks, and rail shunters to safely handle and transload commodities including bulk salt, soda ash, concentrates, lumber, and steel at our Winnipeg and Oak Bluff yard locations.
- Assist with the loading, unloading, storage, bagging, and labeling of bulk products while supporting day-to-day yard operations.
- Assist with unloading of Hopper railcars which requires a person to manually open the bottom gates and top lids, as well as cleaning out of railcars manually when required.
- Support drivers and other equipment operators with the safe unloading, tipping, and preparation of trailers, including the insertion and removal of poly liners and/or opening and closing of Bulk railcar hoppers with gates.
- Assist with rail operations, including the safe movement of rail cars, preparing rail cars for loading and unloading, and securing or removing rail car lids.
- Assist with repairs, maintenance activities, and general yard operations, including snow clearing, rail car shunting, and salt loading (training on heavy equipment will be provided).
- Work as part of a small team to perform a variety of yard and operational duties as required.
Ideally the successful candidate will have:
- Experience operating loaders, forklifts, and various equipment attachments; rail mover experience is an asset.
- Willingness to perform a variety of hands-on duties on and off equipment and work overtime when required.
- Safety-first approach in performing tasks and in wearing required PPE to safely handle products
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work (no public transportation is available)
- Good physical condition (able to lift 50lbs) and able to work in all weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and ability to attend shifts regularly and on time
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Must be able to wear a respirator (clean shaven) when necessary
- As this is a safety-sensitive position, candidates will be required to comply with our Controlled Substances policy (pre-employment/post-incident drug test is required)
