Our team is growing and we’re looking for a DevOps Engineer to support the engineering development operations through driving the advancement of our technical processes, frameworks, and infrastructure. The DevOps Engineer will play a key role in strategizing and optimizing solutions using automation, with an emphasis on improving the SDLC stages such as build, test, and release processes. The DevOps Engineer brings valuable experience, a problem-solving mindset, the ability to work effectively within a team, and an interest to continue learning.
This is a hybrid position working out of our Ottawa, Ontario office.
You Will
- Drive the evolution of our development and release processes and tools, with a focus on building and improving our existing infrastructure for automated builds, testing, and releasing
- Manage and maintain CI/CD processes, pipelines and tools
- Maintain infrastructure of development tools and systems
- Contribute to the architecture of KG’s products to maximize efficiency of development operations
- Work with software developers to ensure that development follows established processes
- Research and trial technical tools that can be leveraged to provide solutions
- Build and maintain a secure development environment
- Clearly document DevOps processes and information
- Main toolset: Jenkins, Artifactory, Proxmox and VSpere, Azure DevOps, Docker and Podman, Npm, CMake, Git, Sonatype Lifecycle, Sonarqube.
- Main languages and syntax: Bash, Powershell, Batch, Python, Groovy, YAML
You Have:
- A Canadian security clearance or eligibility to obtain one
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in a field related to Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a DevOps role
- Extensive experience working with development infrastructure in both Linux and Windows environments, ideally supporting embedded software teams using different toolsets and programming languages
- Deep knowledge of Linux
- Experience working within the SDLC, and knowledge of SDLC practices and processes
- Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to perform automated builds, testing, and releasing
- Strong knowledge of industry DevOps practices and tools
- Hands on experience with all/most of our toolset: Jenkins, Artifactory, Proxmox, vSphere, Azure DevOps, Docker, Npm, CMake, Git, Sonatype Lifecycle, Sonarqube.
- Strong scripting knowledge, with preference to Bash, Powershell, Batch, Python, Groovy, YAML
- A problem-solving mindset – you are motivated to find solutions to problems
- Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to changes in technology and scope of work
It will be great if you have:
- Experience in developing automated testing infrastructure
- Experience in building virtualized infrastructure for standardized and consistent environments (ie. Vagrant, VMs, containers, etc.)
- Experience with configuration management tools for standardized and consistent environments (ie. Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, etc.)
- Experience and interest in leading DevOps transformations of legacy development practices to modern tools and processes
- Experience identifying and deploying cybersecurity measures by automating vulnerability assessments and risk management practices
The base salary range for this role is $84,000 - $117,000. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors including job-related skills, experience, internal equity and relevant education or training.
