Role Description The Dispatch Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based in Brampton, ON, responsible for overseeing daily dispatch operations for the transport division. This role coordinates driver schedules, assigns loads, and monitors route performance to ensure timely, safe, and efficient delivery of goods. The Dispatch Supervisor supports drivers with real-time problem-solving, communicates with customers regarding shipment status, and maintains accurate dispatch records and documentation. The position involves enforcing company policies and applicable transportation regulations, collaborating with operations and fleet maintenance teams, and optimizing resource utilization to improve service levels and cost efficiency. The Dispatch Supervisor also provides coaching and guidance to dispatch staff and contributes to process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated Supervisory Skills, including team leadership, workload prioritization, and performance oversight.
- Hands-on experience with Dispatching in a trucking or transportation environment, including route planning and load assignment.
- Strong Communication and Customer Service skills to interact effectively with drivers, internal teams, and external clients.
- Working knowledge of DOT Regulations and other relevant transportation compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with dispatch or transportation management systems and basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office).
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to accuracy and detail in documentation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, on-site operations environment and make sound decisions under time pressure.
- Previous experience in logistics, trucking, or fleet operations; post-secondary education in logistics, business, or a related field is an asset.
