With a rapidly growing portfolio of in-licensed prescription medicines, Kye has an immediate opening for a Vice-President, Business Development. The successful candidate will join a team of highly motivated professionals committed to building a growth-stage organization with start-up agility based on scientific and medical integrity.
The Vice-President, Business Development at Kye Pharmaceuticals will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities that are aligned and complimentary to Kye’s core objectives, developing assessments and partnering with senior leadership at Kye to lead and close negotiations.
Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will join an entrepreneurial team with high accountability to enhance customer and enterprise value by growing the portfolio of licensed and acquired medicines.
Compensation will be based on the candidate’s experience, background, and qualifications. The role is eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as participation in the Kye Bonus Program.
Responsibilities
- Pipeline Expansion: Source, evaluate, and execute product licensing, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships with international and domestic pharmaceutical companies.
- Deal Negotiation: Lead financial modeling, valuation, and complex contract negotiations with rigorous business and legal oversight.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Coordinate internal diligence across regulatory, scientific, legal, finance and commercial teams.
- Alliance Management: Oversee post-transaction integration and manage ongoing partner relationships to ensure committed value is delivered.
- Market Intelligence: Track competitor deal activity, market trends, and therapeutic portfolio gaps to inform executive strategy.
- Due Diligence Management: Lead comprehensive risk-assessment processes covering intellectual property, regulatory viability, and manufacturing scale-up potential.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 10+ years of progressive business development or corporate development experience within the life sciences or pharmaceutical industry.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a science or business discipline; advanced degree (MBA, MSc, or PharmD) preferred.
- Track Record: Demonstrated success in sourcing, negotiating, and closing high-value commercial or clinical-stage licensing in-licensing and acquisition deals.
- Skills: Strong financial acumen, strategic analytical thinking, and high-level interpersonal and communication skills. Familiarity with datasets typically used in development of market assessments and strong technical capability to perform related data queries and associated analytics to support decision making.
- Successful candidate will have a strong scientific background with deep knowledge of Canadian industry trends as well as an established network internationally within the pharmaceutical business development sector. This leader will be a strong team player with the ability to work effectively at all levels within an organization with professional demeanor and strong decision-making skills.
