Lakeside Accounting is looking for an experienced Bookkeeping Manager to join our growing bookkeeping and tax firm.
This is a hands-on position for someone who can independently manage more complex bookkeeping files, review the work of our junior bookkeeper, prepare Canadian personal income tax returns, and help ensure client work is completed accurately and on time.

Lakeside Accounting is a small bookkeeping and tax practice where communication, reliable work and supporting one another matter. You’ll work closely with the owner and our two junior bookkeepers, taking ownership of client files while providing guidance and helping keep day-to-day work running smoothly.
This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys working independently while staying connected to a small team. We value someone who asks questions, flags concerns early and takes pride in delivering accurate, timely work for our clients. What You'll Do:
- Manage bookkeeping for more complex client files
- Files sales tax as required
- Run basic payroll
- Review bookkeeping completed by junior staff and provide feedback and guidance
- Troubleshoot bookkeeping discrepancies and more complex accounting issues
- Communicate directly with clients regarding questions and missing information
- Prepare Canadian personal income tax returns
- Assist with CRA notices and client tax questions
- Prepare client files for year-end and corporate tax preparation
- Help manage client deadlines and recurring work
**Corporate tax preparation and year-end working paper experience would be a strong asset but are not required.**
What We're Looking For:
- Several years of Canadian bookkeeping experience
- Experience independently managing client files
- Canadian personal tax preparation experience
- Strong knowledge of Canadian sales tax
- Experience reviewing or supervising other bookkeepers
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable communicating directly with clients
- Able to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
- Experience with QuickBooks Online, Dext, Hubdoc, Bookwitds and Canadian tax software, or otherwise willing to learn new software is an asset.
- CPB designation is preferred, but practical bookkeeping and tax experience are more important to us.
Compensation & Hours
This is a part-time contract position paying $35 per hour, with an estimated 20–30 hours per month to start. Hours may vary based on client needs and seasonal workload, with the potential for additional hours as the client portfolio grows.
