Job Type & Duration: Full-time, Permanent Salary: $80,000 - $90,000
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, hybrid, minimum three days in office at Board of Management discretion
Leaside Memorial Community Gardens (LMCG) is seeking a Director of Finance and Business, who will focus on growing the revenue and utilization of its amenities, while seeking to establish LMCG’s position as a hub of activity within the community, welcoming people of all ages and abilities.
Job Responsibilities
Revenue generation
Maximizing rink usage , and monetizing other facility amenities
Increase space rentals/bookings of both the Board Room and the Banquet Room.
Grow revenue and profitability from the Snack Bar
Optimize advertising revenue throughout the physical space
Manage contract renewal agreements – including tenants, advertisers, vending, and digital boards
Finance
Oversee and monitor the requisition needs of the complex and all purchases (includes but is not limited to preparing annual budget, maintaining a business planning and reporting calendar, etc.)
Prepare and submit monthly financial reports, and accompanying narrative, to the Board of Management and make recommendations regarding the financial status, policies, procedures, programs, and services.
Submit to the Board of Management the City of Toronto’s variance reports, issued at 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, and at year end; and provide accompanying narrative on significant variance to budget.
Work with the accountants, auditors, staff at the City of Toronto, and LMCG Finance Committee to complete the annual audit
Marketing activities –
Connect with the community and key stakeholders, using our social media platforms, on-site digital signage, and through our partnership with Leaside Life to inform of events, activities, and programs at LMCG.
Expand/maintain LMCG’s digital footprint, including allowing customers to engage with LMCG via digital channels (such as on-line booking, digital payments, etc.)
Develop and execute additional marketing initiatives to drive revenue and utilization.
Support the Board of Management through execution of its community-facing initiatives.
Administration
Provide prompt responses to communications from LMCG customers, user groups, and other stakeholders
Maintain performance and operating objectives as set out in the Relationship Framework with the City of Toronto.
Support the Board of Management by coordinating and hosting meetings of the standing and ad hoc committees, and the board of management, including the preparation of agendas and creation of minutes.
Manage information and action requests from Board Members, Members of Council, Executive City Staff and Department Heads including reports and briefing materials.
This role works in conjunction with the Director of Operations and reports to the Board of Management and the City of Toronto.
Your Experience and Skills Include:
5+ years business/account management experience
Proven leadership, decision making, and problem-solving skills
5+ years of experience in a customer- or public-facing role (e.g. sales, marketing, account management, business development)
Exceptional interpersonal skills essential
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bookkeeping, budgeting and financial acumen
Ability to multitask and work effectively with a variety of stakeholders
Schedule can include evenings and weekends as required for meetings and events
