Program Coordinator – Full time Temporary
The Legion Foundation BC/Yukon is the charitable arm of The Royal Canadian Legion BC/Yukon Command. As a registered charity, we care for Veterans by running and providing funding directly to programs that provide; medical services & equipment, career transition services, research & treatment of trauma & PTSD, and support for Veterans experiencing homelessness or near-homelessness.
The Opportunity:
We are hiring a temporary, full-time Program Coordinator for a fixed term to help implement, maintain and evaluate a program for Veterans experiencing homelessness or at-risk of experiencing homelessness. This temporary position will be in place until March 31, 2028 with the possibility of becoming permanent. As part of a small team, they will be responsible for the intake, processing, evaluation and monitoring of the program. They will ensure that the goals of the program are met while providing a high level of customer service. A Typical Day:
No two days are alike in this role! One day, you may be on the phone be helping a Veteran in northern BC complete their application and the next day, you are having a Teams meeting with a landlord on Vancouver Island to secure an apartment. Every day involves time spent connecting with Veterans, partner organizations, community resources and other Legion staff or volunteers by phone, email or text message.
Reporting to the Executive Director, this position is primarily an office position based in-person in Cloverdale, however, a remote or hybrid arrangement may be considered for the right candidate. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week, with the opportunity to work a condensed schedule with every second Friday off. Some out-of-office work may be required, including visiting program partners and/or Veterans. Limited weekend and/or evening work may be required.
Qualifications:
· Post-secondary education, preferably in the human/social service field
· Two (2) years of experience working in the community social services sector
· Must be able to provide a Criminal Record Clearance for the Vulnerable Sector
· Demonstrated knowledge of income assistance and affordable housing programs preferred
· Knowledge or experience with Veterans Affairs is an asset
· Lived experience with the military (Veteran or direct family of a Veteran) is an asset
Skills and Abilities:
· Outstanding organizational, coordination, administration, and time management skills
· Proven communication and conflict resolution skills
· Comfortable communicating by email, text message, telephone and in-person
· Ability to develop and maintain rapport with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
· Proficiency working in a digital environment including handling digital files, online meetings and digital phone calls
· Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe
· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information, possessing strong integrity
Compensation & Benefits:
· Annual salary of up to $63,000
· Extended health benefits (including dental)
· 15 paid vacation days annually
