The Office of the Integrity Commissioner is looking to fill the key position of Inquiries Officer – Ministers’ Staff and Public Sector Ethics . In this role y ou must be tactful and non-partisan, demonstrating an attention to detail , and an ability to work under tight deadlines with confidential material. The Inquiries Officer will be expected to work on cross-mandate matters as required .

What you will do
Reporting to the Team Lead, Ministers’ Staff and Public Sector Ethics, you will be:
- receiving and reviewing inquiries from ministers’ staff about their obligations under the Public Service of Ontario Act, 2006 and the Conflict of Interest Rules;
- receiving and reviewing inquiries from Ontario agencies, boards and commissions;
- carefully assessing each request against the relevant legislation and/or regulation, and drafting appropriate responses regarding conflict of interest, gifts, political activity, and post-employment;
- meeting with stakeholders to gather relevant information;
- analysing issues against legislation;
- analysing financial declarations and preparing briefing notes for the Integrity Commissioner; and
- assisting with training and education initiatives.
How You Will Qualify
- completion of a university degree or 3-5 years’ equivalent work experience
- strong verbal communication and superior writing skills
- the ability to gather relevant facts and analyse them against legislation or regulation
- comfort working with high volumes of work under tight deadlines
- an abiding interest in provincial current affairs
- the ability to work independently, and with a team
- superior problem-solving skills, excellent judgment and a ‘can do’ attitude
- an unflappable and inquisitive nature, and a desire to take initiative
