Making Canada a safer place to live and work for over 90 years.
As Canada's trusted safety partner since 1935, we work alongside customers coast to coast to help ensure people return home safely at the end of every shift.
Levitt-Safety is looking for an experienced, hands-on technician to join our team in Thunder Bay.
In this field-based role, you’ll work independently at customer sites, represent Levitt-Safety in the community, and help keep people, equipment, and operations safe. If you’re mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and enjoy being the person customers can count on to get the job done right, this is an opportunity to put your skills to work in a role that matters.
This is a Monday-Friday role but could eventually switch to a compressed work schedule either of 7-7 or 14-14. The right candidate must be comfortable to do so.
Mechanically inclined but new to fire suppression? We’ll provide the training and support you need to succeed.
What you’ll do
This is a hands-on, field-based role where no two days are exactly the same. You’ll work directly with customers to inspect, service, repair, and maintain fire suppression and other Fire & Life Safety equipment.
You’ll:
- Inspect, service, repair, and maintain vehicle fire suppression systems and Fire & Life Safety equipment
- Perform life safety inspections and audits, identify hazards, and recommend preventative maintenance or corrective action
- Provide equipment training to customers and end users
- Travel to customer sites, including underground mining environments
- Work independently in the field while staying connected with Levitt-Safety’s technical team
- Build strong customer relationships through professionalism, reliability, and clear communication
- Complete service reports and documentation using mobile technology
- Travel approximately 50%, including overnight and extended trips as required
What you bring
You don’t need to have experience in every area below. We’re looking for someone with strong mechanical skills, a willingness to learn, and the confidence to work independently in the field.
- Hands-on experience working with vehicles, heavy equipment, or motorized equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and basic electrical knowledge
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Fire suppression experience is a strong asset
- Comfortable working in industrial and underground mining environments
- A practical, safety-focused approach and good judgment in the field
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Able to work independently while being part of a larger technical team
- Comfortable using a smartphone/tablet for service documentation
- Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record
- Able to meet pre-employment requirements, including security, drug and alcohol testing
- Willing and able to travel frequently outside of Thunder Bay
What we offer
- $58,000-62,000 based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity
- Monday-Friday schedule with overtime opportunities
- Company vehicle, tools, PPE, and training provided
- Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, EAP, and RRSP matching
- Annual RRSP and profit-sharing opportunities
- Paid vacation and additional time-away benefits
- All travel expenses covered when working out of town
- Ongoing training and opportunities to build your technical skills
- A stable, established company with a strong focus on safety, people, and customer service
