Whether ensuring sustainable forestry on Traditional Territories or teaching Ucwalmícwts to Líl̓wat youth, all employees are engaged in moving the Nation forward, taking pride in how their work positively impacts the community. Líl̓wat Nation is a progressive First Nation whose Traditional Territory encompasses Whistler and Pemberton, BC. With a membership of over 2,200 people, approximately 1,650 of whom live in the community, the Líl̓wat Nation is the third largest First Nation in British Columbia. The Nation is striving towards self-determination for, and by, its citizens by continuing to exert control over its Traditional Territory and resources. With economic development focused on land and resource management, Líl̓wat Nation is building the economic foundation for a sustainable community by exploring opportunities in retail, forestry, agriculture, energy projects and construction.

Governance Líl̓wat Nation’s government, headed by an elected chief, a cultural chief and an 11-person council, is committed to transparency and employs best practices in all aspects of governance. The Líl̓wat Nation has achieved its Systems Certification through the First Nations Financial Management Board. The priority of Chiefs and Council, Líl̓wat Nation staff and administration is to serve the community by being responsive to the needs and concerns of its members. The Líl̓wat Nation’s government aims to foster an environment of trust and respect. They are a government of the people and believe that serving the community members comes first. By being open and honest with our members we are working to create an environment of trust, honesty, and fairness.
