SALES & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT REPRESENTATIVE - STAFFING
Industry: Employment & Staffing Agency
Focus: New Client Acquisition | B2B Sales | Business Development
Position Overview
We are looking for a driven, proactive, and results-oriented Sales & Business Development Representative to help grow our client portfolio and expand our presence across Ontario.
Our agency has a strong foundation in the manufacturing sector, and we are looking for a sales professional who can help us continue expanding and strengthening our client base within manufacturing, while also identifying strategic business opportunities in other industries when appropriate.
The primary focus of this role will be developing new relationships with manufacturers, understanding their workforce needs, and converting those opportunities into long-term staffing partnerships.
This is a business development and new client acquisition role. The successful candidate will be comfortable prospecting, opening doors, connecting with business owners and key decision-makers, identifying workforce challenges, and turning opportunities into lasting client relationships.
If you enjoy building your own pipeline, developing relationships from the ground up, and seeing a direct connection between your efforts, results, and earnings, this role offers significant growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities through proactive B2B prospecting, with a primary focus on the manufacturing sector.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospective clients and new business opportunities.
- Connect with business owners, HR professionals, plant managers, operations managers, production leaders, and other key decision-makers.
- Conduct outreach through cold and warm calls, email, in-person visits, networking, referrals, professional associations, and other business development channels.
- Schedule and conduct client meetings to understand workforce challenges, hiring needs, operational requirements, and future staffing demand.
- Present and recommend appropriate staffing solutions, including temporary, permanent, contract, general labour, and skilled-trades recruitment.
- Manage the complete sales cycle from initial prospecting and qualification through client meetings, proposals, negotiations, and signed service agreements.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with clients to generate repeat business, referrals, and additional opportunities.
- Identify opportunities to expand staffing services within existing client accounts.
- Work closely with recruitment and operations teams to ensure client requirements are clearly communicated and successfully delivered.
- Maintain accurate records of prospects, conversations, follow-ups, opportunities, and sales activities.
- Consistently work toward monthly and quarterly business development goals and sales targets.
- Stay informed about the local labour market, manufacturing activity, industry trends, and potential business opportunities.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in B2B sales, business development, or new client acquisition.
- Experience in the staffing/recruitment industry, manufacturing sector, or related B2B services is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to prospect for new business and develop relationships with decision-makers.
- Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable with cold calling, prospecting, networking, in-person visits, and face-to-face client meetings.
- Self-motivated, persistent, and comfortable working independently while collaborating with an internal team.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, with the ability to manage multiple prospects and opportunities simultaneously.
- Goal-oriented and motivated by measurable results and commission opportunities.
- Comfortable using CRM systems, email, LinkedIn, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and other digital sales tools.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation for client visits.
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary plus sales commission.
- Earnings growth directly connected to successful business development.
- Supportive and collaborative work environment.
- Recruitment and operational support to successfully service the clients you bring to the agency.
- Opportunity to represent and grow an established staffing agency with a strong presence in the manufacturing sector.
- Opportunity to build and grow your own client portfolio.
- Ability to pursue strategic opportunities in other industries in addition to our core manufacturing market.
- Career advancement opportunities as the agency continues to expand.
The Person We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who creates opportunities rather than waits for them.
You should be comfortable picking up the phone, introducing yourself to a new company, visiting prospective clients, building relationships with decision-makers, following up consistently, and turning conversations into business opportunities.
You understand that successful B2B sales requires persistence, professionalism, organization, curiosity, and trust. You know that developing new business often requires multiple conversations and follow-ups, and you are comfortable staying engaged throughout that process.
Most importantly, you are motivated by the opportunity to bring new clients into the business, build your own portfolio, and grow with the agency.
