Job Introduction
The Corporate Mechanical Maintenance Specialist functions as a portfolio-wide Reliability and Asset Manager, shifting our multi-entity operations from reactive repairs to proactive asset management. Working across three distinct business units - Logic NDT, Alpha Rentals, and Cut & Co - this employee will design, implement, and lead preventative maintenance (PM) frameworks, optimize equipment lifecycle metrics, and reduce operational downtime.
This hands-on role establishes long-term reliability processes, standardizes maintenance management systems, and manages vendor performance across industrial, oilfield tooling, and food-processing environments.
Role and ResponsibilitiesIndustrial Inspection & Machine Operations - Preventative Maintenance Design: Build and execute tailored PM schedules for high-value machinery, machine shop tools, CMT welding stations, and high-wear shot peening assets.
- OEE Improvement: Track Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and implement root-cause failure analysis to minimize unscheduled shop downtime.
- Vendor & Contract Management: Oversee 3rd-party mechanical service providers, evaluating service quality and reducing emergency call-out costs.
Fleet & Tool Asset Management- Lifecycle Tracking: Monitor failure modes and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) across a fleet of 150+ specialized drilling tools.
- Closed-Loop Repair Optimization: Streamline repair turnarounds between Alpha Rentals and Logic NDT to maximize asset utilization and rentable days per tool.
- Asset Standardization: Establish formal maintenance standards and inspection intervals prior to equipment re-deployment.
Commercial Facilities & Operations- Critical Facility Uptime: Ensure 100% operational continuity for commercial processing, transport fleets, and industrial refrigeration equipment to eliminate product loss risks.
- Facility Support: Collaborate with external architects and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) engineering firms during new location expansions by defining equipment utility needs (power, drainage, spatial layouts).
Qualification Requirements- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in asset reliability engineering, industrial facility maintenance, or fleet asset management.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Demonstrated experience in root-cause analysis (RCA), MTBF calculation, and OEE optimization.
- Familiarity with industrial manufacturing/welding environments and commercial refrigeration or HVAC systems.
- Experience selecting, deploying, or managing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Certifications (Preferred): CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) or eligibility for P.Eng / PE license is considered a strong asset.
Competencies
- Ability to evaluate systems holistically and design preventative processes rather than resorting to temporary fixes.
- Strong self-management skills to balance competing priorities across three distinct operating companies.
- Ability to collect baseline metrics, convert machine data into financial insights, and justify CAPEX deferrals.
- Experience evaluating technical vendor proposals and holding suppliers accountable to SLAs.
- Capable of translating complex machine data, root-cause failure analyses, and mechanical risks into plain, business-focused insights for non-technical managers and finance teams.
