The firm is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Public Practice Manager in Red Deer, Alberta who takes pride in delivering exceptional accounting, tax, and business advisory services while contributing to a collaborative and client-focused team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for meeting multiple client deadlines, including financial reporting, bank reporting, and tax compliance requirements.
- Prepare complex compilation and review engagement files in accordance with professional standards.
- Prepare and review corporate and personal income tax returns, including complex filings.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring ongoing compliance with all tax obligations.
- Prepare and present financial information using Excel, Word, and accounting software such as CaseWare/CaseView.
- Communicate with tax authorities to resolve discrepancies and review client account matters.
- Ensure compliance with ASPE and the Income Tax Act.
- Supporting junior team members, answsering questions and sharing knowledge.
- Assist partners in managing workflow, file organization, and overall practice efficiency.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in public practice accounting.
- CPA designation would be an asset, however equivalent experience and qualifications will be considered.
- Proficiency with accounting and tax software, including CaseWare, Profile, Sage, and QuickBooks.
- Must have experience preparing and reviewing compilation and review engagement files.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE and related frameworks).
- Solid understanding of business operations and Canadian regulatory requirements, including GST, payroll, and government programs.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven, high-pressure environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Keen interest in continued learning and professional development.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Results oriented, organized and knows how to prioritize workloads.
